An optoelectronic module includes a beam transmitter, which emits at least one beam of light along a beam axis, and a receiver, which senses the light received by the module along a collection axis of the receiver, which is parallel to the beam axis within the module. Beam-combining optics direct the beam and the received light so that the beam axis is aligned with the collection axis outside the module. The beam-combining optics include multiple faces, including at least a first face configured for internal reflection and a second face comprising a beamsplitter, which is intercepted by both the beam axis and the collection axis.

A method and system are presented for use in imaging broadband light. A plurality of substantially narrowband light components of the broadband light are passed through an array of spectral imaging modules. Each of the spectral imaging modules is configured for imaging light of a respective substantially narrow spectral band with minimal aberrations. This technique provides for producing an image with minimal aberrations over the entire spectral range of the broadband light.

Apparatus for imaging an area of a surface along a viewing angle that is oblique to the surface includes an afocal optical relay, which is adapted to form a tilted initial image of the area by collecting optical radiation from the area along an optical axis oriented at the viewing angle. A tilt correction unit is coupled to correct a tilt of the initial image so as to form a substantially undistorted intermediate image. A magnification module is coupled to focus the intermediate image onto an image detector.
