An automatic target tracking system and method employ an image capturing system for acquiring a series of images in real time of a distant area containing a remote target, and a processing system for processing the acquired images to identify the target and follow its position across the series of images. An automatic beam steering and method operate in conjunction with a laser source for emitting a laser beam to be transmitted in the form of a transmitted laser beam extending along a steerable beam transmission axis to the remote target. The beam steering system is controlled by the processing system to steer the beam transmission axis to be aimed at the target being tracked by the target tracking system, so that the transmitted laser beam will be transmitted at the appropriate angle and in the appropriate direction to be aimed at the tracked target.

Systems and methods for automatic target tracking and beam steering

An automated system for tool mark analysis includes an acquisition mechanism for acquiring 3D data of tool marks left on the surfaces of specimens by tools, a signature generation module for generating tool mark signatures from the acquired data, an analysis unit for comparing pairs of the tool mark signatures to obtain a numerical similarity value reflective of their similarity, and a database in which the similarity values are stored. An automated method for tool mark analysis involves the steps of acquiring the 3D data of tool marks, generating the tool mark signature, statistically evaluating pairs of the tool mark signatures, and providing a numerical similarity value for each pair of tool mark signatures reflecting the degree of similarity between the tool mark signatures of each pair. The method is carried out with automated assistance of a computer.

Automated system and method for tool mark analysis

A computerized system and methods of ballistic analysis involves comparing land impressions on a plurality of control bullets and computing correlation coefficients corresponding to the land-to-land comparisons in all possible relative orientations. A set of matching coefficients is identified for each bullet pair, and the set of matching coefficients is statistically compared to a set of non-matching coefficients. The gun is concluded to be identifiable where the sets of matching coefficients and non-matching coefficients are not statistically undistinguishable. To evaluate whether an evidence bullet was fired by a suspect gun, land impressions on an evidence bullet are compared with land impressions on a plurality of control bullets in all possible relative orientations, and correlation coefficients are computed for each land-to-land comparison to identify a set of questioned coefficients. The evidence bullet is concluded as having been fired by the suspect gun in response to a statistical evaluation that the set of questioned coefficients is statistically equivalent to a set of matching coefficients.

Computerized system and methods of ballistic analysis for gun identifiability and bullet-to-gun classifications

A computerized system and method of computerized bullet ballistic analysis is based on acquisition of depth profiles of the surface of a bullet under examination, estimation and compensation for coaxiality errors of the data acquired, and matching normalized data with reference data related to reference bullet(s) or a gun in question to determine whether the bullet under examination was fired from the gun in question. The computerized system includes a mechanism used for holding and rotating a bullet, a depth sensor measuring the depth profile of striations over part of the surface of the bullet, an analog to digital converter for receiving data from the sensor and sending digitized data to the computer where a computer program estimates and compensates the received digitized data for coaxiality errors and compares the normalized data of the bullet under examination with reference data.

Computerized system and method for bullet ballistic analysis

The present invention provides a computerized exercise system and method allowing exercising in both a gravity field and a gravity free environment. The exercise system includes one or more exercise modules positioned at specific locations and coupled to an exercise member through an extendable cable extending between each exercise module and one or more exercise members. A controlling structure controls tension forces in each of the cables for generating desired resistive forces in the exercise member at each point of its trajectory, simultaneously moving through a trajectory, defined by exercise parameters. When a user performs an exercise routine, he/she moves the exercise member and overcomes the resistive forces elevated by the exercise modules through the controlled tension forces in each cable.
