Disclosed are sensors that include a carbon nanotube channel and a non-fouling polymer layer, where the non-fouling polymer layer and the carbon nanotube channel do not directly contact each other and are separated by a dielectric layer. The disclosed sensors may be used, e.g., as biosensors for the accurate and sensitive detection of analytes within a sample. Also disclosed are methods of making and using the sensors.

Nonfouling biosensors

Provided herein are devices, systems, and methods for analysis of objects, such as cells. The devices, systems, and methods organize a plurality of objects in a plurality of partitions by trapping an object in a trap and transferring the object to an adjacent partition. The devices, systems, and methods provide for parallel analysis of a plurality of objects.

Platforms for single cell analysis

A water-soluble photo-activatable polymer including: a photo-activatable group adapted to be activated by an irradiation source and to form a covalent bond between the water-soluble photo-activatable polymer and a matrix having at least one carbon; a reactive group adapted to covalently react with a biomaterial for subsequent delivery of the biomaterial to a cell; a hydrophilic group; and a polymer precursor. A composition including a monomolecular layer of the water-soluble photo-activatable polymer and a matrix having at least one carbon, wherein the monomolecular layer is covalently attached to the matrix by a covalent bond between the photo-activatable group and the at least one carbon. The composition further includes a biomaterial having a plurality of active groups, wherein the biomaterial is covalently attached to the monomolecular layer by covalent bonding between the active groups and reactive groups. Also provided is a method for delivery of a biomaterial to a cell.

Photochemical activation of surfaces for attaching biomaterial

One aspect of the invention provides a device for sorting non-magnetic particles. The device includes: (a) a fluid holding chamber comprising an inner and outer surface; (b) a fluid in contact with the inner surface of the fluid holding chamber, said fluid containing a dispersion of magnetic particles and at least two sets of non-magnetic particles; and (c) at least two sources of magnetic fields positioned in close proximity to, or inside of, the fluid holding chamber. The at least two sources of magnetic fields produce a changeable pattern of magnetic field minima and maxima regions thereby causing said non-magnetic particles in the fluid to be transported towards the magnetic field minima regions by magnetic force. At least one of said sources of magnetic fields comprises an array of magnetizable features on a micrometer or nanometer length scale.

Magnetic fluid manipulators and methods for their use

A magnetic delivery system for delivering a magnetizable particle to a location in a body, the device includes a magnetizable object implanted in the body, wherein the magnetizable object includes a plurality of segments distributed throughout the magnetizable object and wherein the segments are configured to provide a magnetic gradient for attracting the magnetizable particle and an external source of a magnetic field capable of (i) magnetizing the magnetizable particle and (ii) increasing a degree of magnetization of the magnetizable object and thereby creating the magnetic gradient. A drug delivery system including the magnetic delivery system and a magnetizable particle associated with a therapeutic agent and/or a cell. A cell delivery system based on the magnetic delivery system and a magnetizable particle associated with a cell. Magnetically-controllable delivery system for therapeutic agents

Device and methods for use of these devices to manipulate substantially non-magnetic particles dispersed inside a magnetic fluid by employing a changeable pattern of local magnetic field maxima and minima are provided.

Magnetic nanoparticle masks for lithographic applications of a substrate and methods for producing such masks via defining regions of localized magnetic field maxima and minima on a substrate are provided. Also provided are methods for producing multi-component patterns on a substrate with the magnetic nanoparticle masks.

Programmable self-aligning liquid magnetic nanoparticle masks and methods for their use

An articulated band of the invention is formed of a lineal array of metallic elements arranged in a repeating pattern. The elements are separably bonded to one another through magnetic forces acting therebetween. The band is characterized in that it is free of pins and other mechanical structural agents for interconnecting the band elements to one another. The configuration of the elements themselves is such that each has at least two surfaces, and such that these surfaces include one which is curved or arcuate. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the elements include cylinders and discs which are of the same diameters. The cylinders and discs are so arranged that their axes are parallel to one another. In a closed loop configuration, the band exhibits aesthetic design features and finds use as a bracelet.
