A hydrogenated norbornene-based ring-opening polymer having a syndiotacticity ((racemo diads)/(meso diads+racemo diads)&#xd7;100) of more than 90% is disclosed. A method for producing the same is also disclosed. It is thus possible to provide a hydrogenated highly syndiotactic norbornene-based ring-opening polymer that is formed of a single material, and exhibits high solvent resistance, and a method for producing the same.

The present invention, among other things, provides highly syndiotactic poly(dicyclopentadiene) and/or hydrogenated poly(dicyclopentadiene), compositions thereof, and compounds and methods for preparing the same. In some embodiments, a provided compound is a compound of formula I, II or III. In some embodiments, a provided method comprises providing a compound of formula I, II or III.
