One implementation of the present disclosure is a method for dynamically controlling an alarm of a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device, according to some embodiments. In some embodiments, the method includes initiating NPWT, comparing an initial pump duty to a threshold value to determine a dressing application quality, monitoring a leakage rate of the NPWT, setting a leak threshold value based on the dressing application quality, determining leakage event occurrences in response to the leakage rate exceeding the leak threshold value at multiple times, adjusting the leak threshold value based on at least one of a number of the leakage events over the time period, a time duration between sequentially occurring leakage events of the leakage events, and the dressing application quality, and causing a user interface device to display a leak alert in response to the leakage rate exceeding the adjusted leak threshold value.

Negative pressure wound therapy leak alarm system

This disclosure describes devices, systems, and methods related to two-piece dressings. In one aspect, a two-piece dressing includes a drape including a first light switchable adhesive, and a pad. The pad includes a second light switchable adhesive configured to couple the pad to the drape and a light source configured to emit light and activate at least the second light switchable adhesive. In another aspect a two-piece dressing includes a drape and a pad. The pad is configured to be coupled to the drape and to a light source, and the pad includes a light switchable adhesive configured to couple the pad to the drape. The light source is configured to emit light to activate the light switchable adhesive to decouple the pad from the drape, and the pad is configured to direct the light to activate second light switchable adhesive to decouple the drape from a tissue site.

In some illustrative examples, a bridge suitable for treating a tissue site may include a bridge sealing member and one or more bridge wicking layers. The bridge sealing member may extend along a length of the bridge, and may define an internal passageway in fluid communication between a receiving end of the bridge and a transmitting end of the bridge. The one or more bridge wicking layers may be disposed within the internal passageway of the bridge sealing member. Other apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

In one example embodiment, an apparatus for treating a tissue site may include a contact layer formed from a compressible material. The contact layer may include a plurality of apertures extending at least partially through the contact layer. The contact layer may be configurable such that at least a portion of the apertures include a first plurality of orifices having a diameter in a first diameter range and such that at least a portion of the apertures include a second plurality of orifices having a diameter in a second diameter range. The first diameter range may be from about 2 mm to about 6 mm. The second diameter range may be from about 8 mm to about 15 mm. The apparatus may include a cover configured to form a sealed space including the contact layer and the tissue site.

A dressing for the treatment of incisional wounds includes an upper cover, a patient interface layer, and an absorbent material. The upper cover is configured to substantially cover the incisional wound. The upper cover includes a drape and a plurality of spines coupled to the drape. The drape includes a first side and a second, wound-facing side. The patient interface layer is coupled to the second side of the drape and includes a plurality of openings that are configured to receive fluid from the incisional wound. The absorbent material is disposed between the second side of the drape and the patient interface layer.

Advanced wound dressing for incisional wounds that provides apposition forces as a result of fluid absorption

An apparatus for filling a wound can include an array of at least four truncated ellipsoids interconnected to define at least one fluid path through, for example perpendicular to, the array. The longest principal axis of each ellipsoid may be perpendicular to the array. Each truncated ellipsoid may be a spheroid and/or may include an approximately elliptical contact surface at each contact surface between two interconnected ellipsoids. Each fluid pathway may have four continuously-curved concave sides and may have a parallelogram-shaped cross-section with continuously-curved concave edges. A dressing may include the apparatus, a dressing layer coupled to the apparatus, a backing layer disposed over a surface of the dressing layer opposite the apparatus, and an attachment device disposed on at least a margin of the backing layer. Methods of treating various tissue sites using the apparatus or dressing with negative-pressure therapy are also disclosed.

Manifolding apparatus or dressing exhibiting low tissue ingrowth and negative-pressure treatment method

Disclosed embodiments relate to devices and systems for providing both negative-pressure therapy and instillation, In some embodiments, both negative-pressure and instillation may be provided to a tissue site in a low-profile context that may also prevent siphoning of instillation fluid during negative pressure application. For example, a single bridge may include a negative-pressure pathway with supports and an instillation pathway, and the instillation pathway may be configured with respect to the negative-pressure pathway so that at least a portion of the instillation pathway collapses upon application of negative pressure to the negative-pressure pathway. Collapse of at least a portion of the instillation pathway may be sufficient to close the instillation pathway.

Low profile instillation and negative-pressure bridge

In some embodiments, a dressing assembly may include a dressing bolster, an interface seal, and a base layer. The dressing bolster may include a first side, a second side, and a periphery. The interface seal may be coupled at the periphery of the dressing bolster. The base layer may include a base layer flange configured to be coupled to the dressing and to extend beyond the periphery of the dressing bolster. The dressing assembly may be suitable for treating a tissue site with reduced pressure and for creating an apposition force between a first portion of the tissue site and a second portion of the tissue site. Dressing with increased apposition force

A wound debridement system includes a wound dressing having an active layer () and a wound interface layer (). The active layer is formed from one or more pneumatic members (). The pneumatic members are arranged about a film layer (), by which the pneumatic members are attached to the wound interface layer. A control unit () controls a drive unit () to intermittently apply pressure to the pneumatic members of the active layer. The pressure applied by the drive unit causes the pneumatic members to expand and contract. This movement of the pneumatic members is transferred to the wound interface layer, causing the wound interface layer to move relative to a tissue site to which the wound dressing is applied. The wound interface layer may be formed having an abrasive wound-facing surface, such that the movement of the wound interface layer causes a mechanical disruption and debridement of debris at the tissue site.

Method and system for providing active tissue site debridement

An apparatus for promoting circulation through a subcutaneous lymph vascular network may comprise a first manifold layer, a second manifold layer coupled to the first manifold layer, and a cover layer coupled to the second manifold layer. The first manifold may have a first stiffness, and the second manifold may have a second stiffness greater than the first stiffness. In some embodiments, the apparatus may additionally have a fluid interface configured to fluidly couple at least one of the first manifold layer and the second manifold layer to a fluid conductor through the cover layer. The fluid conductor may be coupled to or configured to be coupled to a source of negative pressure.

Soft-tissue treatment with negative pressure

New and useful systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative-pressure therapy with instillation of topical treatment solutions are described. An apparatus may comprise an exudate container, a solution source, and a pneumatically-actuated instillation regulator. The instillation regulator may be coupled to the exudate container and to the solution source, and negative pressure from a negative-pressure source can actuate the instillation regulator. In some embodiments, a negative-pressure source may be configured for a negative-pressure interval and a venting interval, and the instillation regulator can be configured to draw instillation solution from the solution source during a negative-pressure interval and to instill the solution to a dressing during a venting interval.

Negative-pressure therapy with pneumatically-actuated instillation

An evaporative bridge dressing that may be used with negative-pressure treatment of tissue. The evaporative bridge dressing may have one or more fluid transfer layers comprised of high-density wicking material enclosed between layers of film having high moisture-vapor transfer rates to reduce liquid storage and minimize pressure drop.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for instilling fluid to a tissue site in a negative-pressure therapy environment are described. Illustrative embodiments may include a pneumatically-actuated instillation pump that can draw a solution from a solution source during a negative-pressure interval, and instill the solution to a dressing during a venting interval. A pneumatic actuator may be mechanically coupled to a disposable distribution system that can provide a fluid path between the solution source and a distribution component. A bacterial filter may be disposed in the fluid path between the actuator and the distribution component to prevent contamination of the actuator during operation. The distribution system may be separated from the actuator and disposed of after operation, and the actuator may be re-used.

A dressing interface for connecting a negative-pressure source to a dressing may have a coupling member comprising an aperture, a first adhesive region having a first region peel strength, and a second adhesive region having a second region peel strength less than the first region peel strength. The dressing interface may further have a flange coupled to the coupling member, and a conduit housing coupled to the flange and extending through the aperture in the contact layer.
