A tool for analyzing software. The tool identifies calls to framework components made from within one or more application programs. The information may be processed to indicate usage of framework components. This usage information may be aggregated over a pool of application programs to derive statistical usage information for each component in the framework, allowing components to be selected for inclusion in a compact framework. Usage information may also be used for scheduling development tasks so that the most widely used framework components are developed first or to estimate the amount of development required to modify an application program for execution against a target framework.

The subject disclosure pertains to relationships between items. Relationships between items can be defined external to the items themselves thereby providing a modular, flexible and extensible system. For instance, relationships between items can be defined in a class that includes methods for returning particular elements or values in accordance with a specified relationship. Moreover, a compiler or like system can be extended to accept relationship expressions in a simple property format and direct such calls to specific methods.

The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can facilitate an incremental approach to an Object-Relational mapping solution. The architecture can provide a rich data model that is defined at the value layer. The rich data model can expose an interface that conforms with the interfaces exposed by common storage-specific data providers. The architecture can extend common storage-specific data provider to support common command representations, and provide entity services that work in terms of the rich data model as well as object services such as identity management, updating and change tracking.

Incremental approach to an object-relational solution

The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or a method that facilitates handling a change associated with a database. An interface that can receive data associated with a change to data via an object graph. A state transition logic component that can maintain the change related to the object graph utilizing a context and a respective set of rules, the context employs metadata to view the object graph with an abstraction of at least one of an entity and a relationship.
