A shaving apparatusis disclosed in which a rotary cutterand a bladeare used to shear a user's hairs therebetween during a shaving process. Various advancements are disclosed herein, including without limitation accurate positioning of the blade relative to the rotary cutter, pivoting of a refill blade assemblyrelative to a base portionof the shaving apparatus to which it is coupled, and a connection between the refill blade assembly and the base portion of the shaving apparatus. Furthermore, a method of shaving is also disclosed.

Shaving apparatus

A shaving apparatus () includes a rotary cutter () comprising a cutter tube, the rotary cutter comprising a plurality of closed-geometry apertures () in an outer surface of the cutter tube, each of the closed-geometry apertures extending along an aperture axis and comprising: a cutting edge (); a first section having a first width measured transverse to the aperture axis; a second section having a second width measured transverse to the aperture axis; a waist section having a third width measured transverse to the aperture axis, the waist section located between the first and second sections; and the third width being less than each of the first and second widths; a blade () having a cutting edge, the blade mounted adjacent the rotary cutter; and an electric motor () operably coupled to a power source and the rotary cutter to rotate the rotary cutter about a rotational axis of the rotary cutter so that a user's hairs are sheared between the cutting edge of the blade and the cutting edges of the cutter.

A motorized shaving apparatus and head therefor that cuts or trims hair via shearing. In one embodiment, the invention is a shaving apparatus head having a body, a rotary cutter mounted to the body so as to be rotatable about a rotational axis, the rotary cutter having cutting edges that collectively define a reference cylinder about the rotational axis, and a blade mounted to the body so as to extend along a first reference plane that intersects the reference cylinder, the blade positioned so that a user's hairs are sheared between a cutting edge of the blade and the cutting edges of the rotary cutter when the rotary cutter is rotating about the rotational axis.

A shaving apparatus () is disclosed in which a rotary cutter () and a fixed blade () are used to shear a user's hairs therebetween during a shaving process. Various advancements are disclosed herein, including without limitation accurate positioning of the fixed blade in the head (A) relative to the contact apex of the rotary cutter, bi-directional rotation of the rotary cutter, a cover-blade assembly for detachable coupling and decoupling from a base component of the head, the use of contact rollers on the head to treat and/or prep the skin and/or hairs for shearing, and a rotary cutter configured to pinch, pull and shear hairs.

A shaving apparatus in which a rotary cutter and a fixed blade are used to shear a user's hairs therebetween during a shaving process. Rotation of the rotary cutter is driven by an electric motor. In certain embodiments, the rotary cutter comprises a cutting tube that comprises a plurality of apertures that are defined by cutting edges which form a closed-geometry. In other embodiments, a lubricating element is coupled to the rotary cutter. In further embodiments, the apertures are arranged in a pattern to control the number and selection of apertures that are capable of being active to shear hairs at any one time. In even further embodiments, the fixed blade is integrally formed with the housing of the head; the housing is formed by a plurality of flat plate segments; the rotary cutter is formed by a plurality of stacked flat plate segments; and/or the fixed blade can reciprocate.

A transducer configured for use with a manual wire bonding machine includes a body portion including an end portion, the end portion defining a bonding tool aperture configured to receive at least a portion of a bonding tool. The transducer also includes a first tightening mechanism for securing a ball bonding tool in the bonding tool aperture, and a second tightening mechanism for securing a wedge bonding tool in the bonding tool aperture. The first tightening mechanism is distinct from the second tightening mechanism.

Combination wedge bonding and ball bonding transducer

A wire bonding machine includes a moveable arm assembly and at least one component for a ball bonding operation of the wire bonding machine supported by the moveable arm assembly. The moveable arm assembly is configured to move between a ball bonding position and a wedge bonding position. When the moveable arm assembly is in the ball bonding position the at least one component for the ball bonding operation is in a predetermined position for use in the ball bonding operation.

Moveable arm assembly for a wire bonder

A novel high-speed capillary/wedge bonding tool is provided for use on an automatic fine wire bonder which has either a rotating bonding head or a workstation which rotates relative to the bonding head. The novel working tip of the novel bonding tool is provided with two closely spaced parallel sides having substantially zero degree cone angle when viewed from the side. The bonding tool is further provided with a substantially rectangular shaped wedge foot which extends between a segment of the chamfer diameter and a segment of the tip diameter when viewed from the front. In the preferred embodiment, the novel chamfer recess in the novel capillary/wedge bonding tool is elongated so that balls bonded at first bond are more narrow in width than in length and occupy approximately the same area as prior art high speed gold ball bonds. The novel rectangular wedge shape foot produces second mashed wedge wire bonds which are as robust as, and/or stronger than prior art mashed wedge wire bonds.

Fine pitch capillary/wedge bonding tool

A novel bonding tool is designed for use in conventional ultrasonic transducers. The bonding tool body is mounted in the ultrasonic transducer at an angle or in an offset holder so that the working face of the bonding tool is offset and out from under the end of the ultrasonic transducer. The axis of a wedge bonding tool body is mounted at an inclined angle of up to forty-five degrees and the tapered wedge of the bonding tool is inclined in the opposite direction so that the working face of the offset tapered wedge is in a horizontal working plane.
