Described herein are packaging materials and their use in manufacturing packaging containers having an opening device, and intended for food products. In some embodiments, a packaging material for a packaging container for liquid or semi-liquid food includes: a bulk layer made of paper or paperboard; a heat-sealing layer; a barrier layer arranged between the bulk layer and the heat-sealing layer; and a laminate layer arranged between the barrier layer and the bulk layer. The packaging material can include one or more weakenings in direct or indirect contact with an attenuation in the packaging material, the one or more weakenings defining a consumer opening area. The attenuation can provide a material bridge for an injection molded opening device. In one embodiment, the attenuation can include the heat-sealing layer, the barrier layer, and the laminate layer, but not the bulk layer.

Packaging material and packaging container having an opening device made therefrom

A package material may include one or more layers of plastic laminate, a first side, a second side and a penetration area. A weakening line may extend from the penetration area and may provide an opening area in the package material. The package material may include a plastic opening device, with a first and second portion attached to the first and second side, respectively, and a material bridge penetrating through the penetration area. The second portion may cover at least partly the penetration area and may include a guiding portion extending from the penetration area adjacent to the at least one weakening line as to facilitate rupturing substantially along the at least one weakening line.

Package material and package container formed with said material

A package material comprises a multilayer material structure with layers of plastic laminate, a penetration area () and two weakening lines () creating an area in between. The package material comprises an opening device with a first () and second () portion attached to respective sides and a material bridge () penetrating the penetration area and connecting the first portion to the second portion. The second portion at least partly covers the penetration area and comprising a rupture section () covering at least partly the two weakening lines. The rupture section comprises one or more rupture recesses (-) disposed over or adjacent to the weakening lines for guiding a rupture of the multilayer material structure along the weakening lines.

A cap arranged to interact with a spout. The cap includes a top section, a side wall section attached to the top section and a tamper element attached to the side wall section in a tearing interface. The tearing interface may be provided with a weakening line that is arranged to break when the cap is unscrewed such that the tamper element is separated from the side wall section. The cap further includes at least one resilient cutting element arranged to the side wall. The at least one resilient cutting element is arranged to cut off a membrane of the spout when the cap is unscrewed. The cap is arranged such that the weakening line is arranged to break before the membrane of the spout is cut off when the cap is being unscrewed from the spout.

Cap with a tamper evidence and a spout

Package material comprises one or more layers of plastic laminate, a first side, a second side and a penetration area (). A weakening line () extends from the penetration area () and provides an opening area () in the package material. The package material comprises a plastic opening device (), with a first and second portion () attached to the first and second side, respectively and a material bridge () penetrating through the penetration area (). The second portion covers at least partly the penetration area and comprises a guiding portion () extending from the penetration area () adjacent to the at least one weakening line () as to facilitate rupturing substantially along the at least one weakening line.

A package material blank comprises a body panel having a main panel, two second panels arranged adjacent to the main panel and at least one third panel. End closure panels arranged adjacent to the body panel, the end closure panels comprising a top and bottom closure panels arranged adjacent to the main and the at least one third panel, respectively and flap closure panels arranged adjacent to the two second panels. Lines of weakness separate each of the body and end closure panels. A line of weakness is provided on the main panel having a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion extends from a first point to a second point and the second portion extend from a third point to the second point.

Package material blank and method of forming the same

A cap arranged to interact with a spout. The cap comprises a top section, a side wall section attached to the top section and a tamper element attached to the side wall section in a tearing interface. The tearing interface may be provided with a weakening line that is arranged to break when the cap is unscrewed such that the tamper element is separated from the side wall section. The cap further comprises at least one resilient cutting element arranged to the side wall. The at least one resilient cutting element is arranged to cut off a membrane of the spout when the cap is unscrewed. The cap is arranged such that the weakening line is arranged to break before the membrane of the spout is cut off when the cap is being unscrewed from the spout.

A membrane for sealing an open spout of a food package comprises a central circular disc member, an outer annular disc member connected to the central circular disc member along its inner periphery at a connection angle, and a resilient tubular portion extending between a first open end and a second end being connected to the outer annular disc member, the diameter of the second end being smaller than the outer diameter of the annular disc member, wherein the annular disc member is pivotable relative the central circular disc member for increasing the diameter of the second end of the tubular portion by changing the connection angle.

Membrane, and a neck including such membrane

A gripping head for loading packages into a crate is disclosed having a number of support members attached to a frame. The support members each have a predetermined number of pneumatically operated suction cups for gripping packages that are intended for loading into a crate. Two of the support members are capable of pivoting movement on the frame in response to vertical movement of a center support member so as to allow the gripping head to deposit the packages into the crate in a manner that is economical and that allows efficient use of the crate space.
