An implantable unit of a transcutaneous hearing device and a transcutaneous hearing device comprising the same are disclosed. The implantable unit comprises a receiver element configured to wirelessly receive an electromagnetic wave, a rectifier element configured to generate upper and lower half waveforms of the electromagnetic wave, and a vibrator element configured to electromechanically produce vibration using the half waveforms of the electromagnetic wave. The vibrator element comprises a first vibrator and a second vibrator. The first vibrator is configured to be driven by the upper half waveform of the electromagnetic wave, and the second vibrator is configured to be driven by the lower half waveform of the electromagnetic wave.

Implantable dual-vibrator hearing system

According to an embodiment, a medical device is disclosed. The medical device includes an external unit and an implantable unit. The external unit includes an electronic unit operationally coupled to a transmitter coil that is configured transmit power and/or data signal over a wireless transcutaneous link, a coil unit comprising a loop structure with the transmitter coil being wound around and along at least a part of length of the loop structure, and a fixation unit configured to attach the loop structure to a user's body i) proximal to an implantable receiver coil that is configured to be implanted within a body part, and ii) around a body part of a user such that a part of the body part is positioned in a hollow section of the loop structure. The implantable unit includes the implantable receiver coil configured to receive the power and/or data signal over the wireless transcutaneous link, a processing unit configured to i) process the received data signal to control functionalities of at least one of the components of the implantable unit, and/or ii) utilize the received power for operation of at least one of the components of the implantable unit. The wireless transcutaneous link includes a coupling between the transmitter coil and the receiver coil, and when the loop structure is attached using the fixation unit, at least a substantial number of magnetic field lines generated in response to excitation of the transmitter coil passes through the implantable receiver coil.

Mounting assembly for a bone conduction hearing device

An electromagnetic vibrator for a bone conduction hearing aid is disclosed. The electromagnetic vibrator comprises a magnet arrangement comprising a central portion, a coil wound around the central portion and being configured to generate a dynamic magnetic field and at least one permanent magnet configured to generate a static magnetic field. The electromagnetic vibrator further comprises a vibrator plate arranged in position and in such a manner that a gap, extending across a longitudinal axis of the electromagnetic vibrator is provided between the vibrator plate and at least one of said central portion or at least one permanent magnet. A skull simulator tests and calibrates bone-conduction vibrators under realistic operating conditions. The transcutaneous active bone anchored hearing aid device comprises an audio processor comprising means for being externally worn by a hearing aid user and an implantable part comprising transducer means for providing a structure-borne acoustic signal to the skull bone of the hearing aid user. Hearing losses caused by deficiencies in a person's outer or middle ear may be compensated for by converting received sounds to vibrations and transmitting the vibrations to the skull bone (). Bone-conduction hearing devices () may transmit such vibrations transcutaneously or percutaneously. In both cases, a precise determination of the magnitude of the vibrations applied to the skull bone () is needed for determining the person's bone-conduction hearing thresholds as well as for calibrating the hearing devices (). The present invention provides a device () and a method, which allow determination of the applied vibrational force with better precision than prior art devices and methods. This is achieved by placing an accelerometer () on the countermass () of the vibrator () that generates the vibration signal.
