The invention relates to a security system especially for security documents, wherein a security element is provided in a carrier plane, that under incident light holographically reconstructs a pattern outside the carrier plane, in which concealed information is stored and having a flat transparent verification element which on flat contact with the security element makes the information stored therein visible. The invention further relates to a security element and a verification element for use in the security system and a security document fitted with the security system. The invention additionally relates to an apparatus and a method for reading out the concealed information which is stored holographically in the pattern reconstructed on the security element under incident light.

Security and/or value document, with security features and with a verification element for verifying the security feature is disclosed. Integrated into the security and/or value document at different positions is at least one verification element and at least one security feature to be verified by the verification element. When the verification element and the security feature are only superimposed, verification takes place.

An apparatus configured to discriminate the genuineness of a certified paper by exposing the paper to a light source and transporting the paper through an environment of an alternating-current electromagnetic field. Light detectors detect the light reflected from the paper and the light emitted by a fluorescent ink on the paper and output a waveform corresponding to the intensity of the detected light, reflected light, and the detected emitted light as the paper is scanned. The resulting waveforms are used to discriminate the genuineness of the paper. The fluorescent light and reflected light can be optically split and directed to separate detecting devices. Furthermore, the alternating-current electromagnetic field can be controlled by a voltage controller and configured to be driven only when the sensor detects light from the fluorescent ink.

An apparatus for discriminating the genuineness of a security mark is provided having a first light detecting element for detecting a light emitted from a luminescent ink of the security mark placed in a specified environment and a second light detecting element for detecting a reflected light from a non-luminescent ink of the security mark. The first and second light detecting elements detect the light from the same location of a bank note. A third light detecting element detects the light intensity of a light emitted from a monitor mark that can be compared with a preset reference light intensity to calculate a deviation from the reference light intensity. A method and apparatus are disclosed for determining the authenticity of secured documents which include an authentication element of the type which, when excited with radiation of a specific excitation wavelength, emits radiation which can be detected by a detection unit and evaluated by an evaluating unit. The intensity profile of the emitted radiation is determined in a specified wavelength range over a predetermined measuring period after excitation and analyzed to determine authenticity of the secured document.

The device consists of an automatic testing apparatus into which the bank notes for testing are fed and hereby run through a detector device.
