An aqueous organ preservation solution includes taurine and L-alanine-L-glutamine and glutamic acid. The organ preservation composition can be stored in a solid state, for example in the form of small particles (e.g. a powder or micronized powder), and be dissolved in water, thereby instantly providing a ready-to-use organ preservation solution.

The invention relates to a device for transporting an organ having a container for organs, a gas-driven pump connected to the container and conduits for circulating a liquid and/or gas through the container, and a controller for controlling the pump. There is a pressure sensor in the liquid output conduit of the pump that is connected to the controller and control the drive for the pump. The invention also relates to a method for transporting an organ in a container.

Device for transporting an organ

The current invention provides a new organ preservation solution, suitable for machine perfusion, for maintaining viability of organs, parts of organs and tissues. This solution has been designed to overcome a number of problems associated with hypothermic machine perfusion of donor organs, in particular organs obtained from non-heart-beating donors. The solution prevents or minimizes the adverse affects caused by ischemia, hypoxia, energy and nutrient depletion, acidification, hypothermia and reperfusion injury. The preservation solutions according to the current invention are superior to current state of the art preservation solutions, in particular for preservation and perfusion of organs obtained from non-heart-bearing donors, by supplying increased concentrations and an optimized balance of amino acids, vitamins, anti-oxidants, high molecular weight additives and enhanced buffering capacity. In addition, the preservation solution according to the invention combines optimal physical and chemical properties with the use of readily available, inexpensive and pharmaceutically tested and acceptable compounds, reducing the cost of manufacturing and facilitating medical certification of solutions according to the current invention.

Composition for cold preservation and perfusion of organs

An insertion sleeve assembly consisting of a sleeve and an insertion instrument. The sleeve is made of a material that collapses after having been introduced into the body and on withdrawal of the biopsy needle. Cells are captured as a result. Such a material can be a material that is relatively rigid at relatively low temperature and low humidity outside the body and becomes soft on insertion into the body under the influence of temperature and moisture. The insertion sleeve can be provided with a number of break locations so that no stress can arise between the various parts of the body after withdrawal of the biopsy needle.

The invention relates to an apparatus for mechanical organ perfusion during the transport phase of a donor organ, which apparatus comprises an organ receptacle for acommodating the organ, propulsion means for moving the perfusate contained in a liquid compartment of the apparatus to and through the organ receptacle, and oxygenation means for the aeration of the organ receptacle. The propulsion means are embodied as a pump driven by compressed air, while the compressed air serves at the same time for the aeration of the organ receptacle.
