A technique for enabling signaling message correlation in a telecommunication network is disclosed. A method implementation of the technique is performed by a network node in the telecommunication network and includes receiving a first signaling message as part of a signaling procedure among a plurality of network nodes in the telecommunication network, the first signaling message being transmitted using a first signaling protocol and including a correlation identifier being propagated along a message flow of the signaling procedure, and triggering transmitting a second signaling message as part of the signaling procedure using a second signaling protocol different from the first signaling protocol, wherein the correlation identifier of the first signaling message is incorporated into the second signaling message for further propagation.

Technique for enabling signaling message correlation

A method of controlling overload in a telecommunications network (e.g. a Next Generation Network) is described. A series of offers are sent from one or more source nodes to a throttle. An admission decision is carried out at the throttle for each offer, the outcome of the admission decision determining whether or not that offer should be admitted into the network. For each offer, if the admission decision is to admit the offer, it is sent from the throttle towards a target node in the network. Each offer belongs to a traffic class selected from a set of traffic classes. The throttle identifies the traffic class of each offer and the admission decision for each offer takes into account the traffic class of that offer according to a Service Level Agreement.

Overload control in a quality-of-service-aware telecommunications network

A throttle device is coupled with a central processing unit in a node for reducing traffic overload in a Next Generation Network (NGN). The device is coupled with a basic throttle with different levels of traffic priority and both are situated between a source node and a target node for processing traffic. When a traffic offer is received by the throttle, the throttle device by provisionally updating the basic throttle priority levels, determines whether to send the traffic offer on to the source node. If the provisional, traffic priority level is greater than a new traffic priority level the traffic is admitted and rejected if the updated priority level is less than the new traffic priority level.

Method and apparatus to provide minimum resource sharing without buffering requests

A system, method and node for overload control in a network. The method includes the steps of receiving an incoming offer by a node, filtering the offer by an in-throttle to determine if the offer is permitted to be processed by the node prior to processing by the node, processing a permitted offer, and sending the processed offer to a designated target. After processing the permitted offer by the node, the offer may be further filtered prior to sending the offer to the designated target.
