Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for just in time compilation. In one aspect, a method includes receiving an application on a mobile device, the mobile device including a processor for executing native code and an interpreter for interpreting intermediate code, wherein an application includes at least one machine instruction; receiving data characterizing prior actions of the application on the mobile device; determining a portion of intermediate code to be compiled into native code based at least in part on the data, wherein the portion includes some but not all of the application; sending the portion of intermediate code over a network to a compilation server; receiving native code corresponding to the portion of intermediate code from the compilation server; and executing the native code on the processor.

Apparatus and associated method and computer program products involve a highly efficient uninterruptible power distribution architecture to support modular processing units. As an illustrative example, a modular processing unit includes an corresponding uninterruptible power system in which only one AC-to-DC rectification occurs between the utility AC grid and the processing circuit (e.g., microprocessor) loads. In an illustrative data center facility, a power distribution architecture includes a modular array of rack-mountable processing units, each of which has processing circuitry to handle network-related processing tasks. Associated with each modular processing unit is an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to supply operating power to the network processing circuitry. Each UPS includes a battery selectively connectable across a DC bus, and a AC-to-DC rectifier that converts an AC input voltage to a single output voltage on the DC bus. The regulated DC bus voltage may be close to the battery's fully charged voltage.

Data center uninterruptible power distribution architecture

An interim power source includes an energy storage, a switch coupled with the energy storage, and a control circuit coupled with the switch. The switch selects a source of power being delivered out of an output power terminal to an electronic device. The control circuit may cause the switch to select the source of power from at least one of an input power terminal and the energy storage. The input power terminal may include a main power source and a backup or secondary power source.
