A gas burner assembly (10) and method for providing combustion air flow and gas fuel flow in linear proportion to a control signal. A blower motor (18) is driven by the control signal and drives a blower (14) whose output (16) has a static pressure proportional to the square of the blower speed. A gas fuel controller 28 is responsive to the static pressure of the blower output (16) to meter fuel in proportion to the square root of that static pressure.

Integrated gas burner assembly

An apparatus for heating and bending quenching glass sheets (10) is disclosed as including a first platen (14) and a second platen (22). Both platens (14,22) are deformable for heating and bending a heated glass sheet (12) therebetween. First heat source (18) is integral with the first platen (14) and provides heat in close proximity to the heated glass sheet (12) during the bending to maintain an optimal glass bending temperature.

Apparatus for heating and bending glass sheets

A horizontal flame burner (30) is disclosed for heating a glass sheet furnace floor (22) to provide radiant heat within a furnace (10) heated thereby. The burner (30) includes a combustion air and fuel inlet (54) located beneath the floor (22). A vertical intermediate portion (56) extends upwardly from the inlet (54) into the floor (22) and a horizontally extending outlet (58) extends from the vertical intermediate portion (56) into a heating passage (28) extending horizontally between upper and lower floor surfaces (24,26). The combustion air and fuel are mixed and ignited within the horizontally extending outlet (58) to propagate a horizontally extending flame within heating passage (28) to heat furnace (10).

A radiant heater (12) is disclosed for heating a glass sheet heating furnace (10) and includes a base (40) having a horizontally extending heating passage (28) therein and a cover plate (42) mountable over said base (40). A horizontal flame burner (30) supplies a horizontal flame in heating passage (28) to heat radiant heater (12) and furnace (10) thereby.

An apparatus for heating, bending and quenching glass sheets (10) is disclosed as including a first platen (14) and a second platen (22).
