A method and network node configured to perform wireless network virtualization to allocate resources of an infrastructure provider (InP) among a plurality of service providers (SPs) are provided. According to one aspect, a method in a network node includes, in each of a plurality of successive time slots in a time interval, T: receiving precoding feedback information from each SP, allocating a virtual transmit power to each cell served by an SP based at least in part on the received precoding feedback information and determining a precoding matrix for each SP. The method also includes minimizing a loss function based at least in part on the received precoding feedback information received in multiple previous time slots.

Delay-tolerant constrained online convex optimization

A method, network node and processor for processing uplink signals transmitted from a wireless device (WD) to provide a combination of quantize-forwarding and decode-forwarding relayed signals in massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) heterogeneous networks (HetNets). According to one aspect, whether quantize-forwarding or decode-forwarding is used depends on a ratio of a quality of a WD signal received at a Small Cell Base Station (SCBS) to a quality of the WD signal received at a Macro Cell Base Station (MCBS). When the ratio is less than a first threshold, signals received at the SCBS may be quantize-forwarded to the MCBS and when the ratio exceeds a second threshold larger than the first threshold, signals received at the SCBS may be decode-forwarded to the MCBS. When the ratio lies between the first and second threshold, signals received at the SCBS may be quantize-forwarded to the MCB.

Hybrid quantize-forward and decode-forward relaying transmission for massive MIMO HetNets

Online MIMO wireless network virtualization with unknown channel information

A method and network node for online coordinated multi-cell precoding are provided. According to one aspect, a method includes receiving from each of the plurality of service providers a virtual precoder matrix determined by the corresponding service provider. The method also includes determining a precoder matrix by minimizing a precoding deviation from a virtualization demand of the network subject to at least one power constraint, the virtualization demand being based at least in part on a product of a channel state matrix and a virtual precoder matrix. The method further includes applying the determined precoder matrix to signals applied to a plurality of antennas to achieve a sum of throughputs for the plurality of service providers that is greater than a sum of throughputs for the plurality of service providers achievable when the virtual precoder matrices are applied to the signals.

Online convex optimization with periodic updates for downlink multi-cell MIMO wireless network virtualization

A method, system and apparatus are disclosed. A network node is configured to communicate with a wireless device, WD, where the network node configured to, and/or comprising a radio interface and/or comprising processing circuitry configured to: receive an indication whether the WD is to cache at least one file based on spatial statistics of a cache-enabled device-to-device, D2D, network collected by the WD, and perform spectrum allocation based on the received indication.

Joint spectrum allocation and cache placement in a D2D network

Embodiments of a method of operation of a power control coordinator to control transmission power of a plurality of Device-to-Device (D2D) pairs that co-exist with a Cellular User Equipment (CUE) that communicates with a base station of a cellular communications network comprises obtaining, for a particular time slot, delayed Network State Information (NSI) feedback from at least some of the plurality of D2D pairs. The method further comprises computing transmission powers for the D2D pairs, respectively, for the particular time slot using On-Line Convex Optimization (OCO) to solve an optimization problem that maximizes a weighted sum data rate of D2D pairs with a constraint of maximum expected interference to the base station. The method further comprises providing, to each D2D pair, an indication of the computed transmission power for the D2D pair for the particular time slot.

Online power control in D2D networks

A method and device for adjusting a channel precoding matrix for one or more users operating in a virtualized Massive Multi-Input Multi-Output (M-MIMO) wireless network managed by a neutral host. Each of the users receive wireless services from one or more service providers (SP). For each service provider, a set of N antennas are selected from all available antennas managed by the neutral host. Channel information for each user of each service provider is obtained. A precoding matrix from each SP is defined according to each SP channel and state information. If all channel state information (CSI) parameters are known, and if the CSI parameters are all known, a final precoding matrix based on the known CSI is derived, whereas if only a subset of CSI parameters are known, a final precoding matrix based on the known subset CSI parameters is derived.

Virtualized massive MIMO in multi-operator wireless networks

A method and network device for configuring a D2D pair and a cellular wireless device. The method includes receiving a subset of complete CSI parameters for the D2D pair, the cellular wireless device, and at least one neighbor interference level, determining feasibility conditions for pairing the D2D pair and the cellular wireless device transmissions based at least on the received subset of CSI parameters, determining a power allocation for the pairing of the D2D pair the cellular wireless device transmissions, the power allocation being based on a sum rate of the D2D pair and cellular wireless device transmissions, and configuring the D2D pair and cellular wireless device based at least in part on the determined power allocation while limiting an inter-cell interference (ICI) generated in a plurality of neighboring cells. In one embodiment, the complete set of CSI parameters is received, rather than a subset.

Device-to-device communication in a multi-cell network with perfect and imperfect CSI

A method and network node for configuring a device-to-device (D2D) pair and a cellular wireless device, the cellular wireless device configured to have a direct link with a serving network device of a network cell in which the cellular wireless device resides. The method includes receiving Channel State Information (CSI) data for the D2D pair, a cellular wireless device, and at least one neighbor interference level, determining feasibility conditions for pairing the D2D pair and the cellular wireless device transmissions, determining a power allocation for the pairing of the D2D pair and cellular wireless device transmissions, the power allocation being based on a sum rate of the D2D pair and cellular wireless device transmissions, and configuring the D2D pair and cellular wireless device based at least in part on the determined power allocation.

Power allocation for device-to-device communication underlaying cellular networks

The disclosure provides a method and network entity for scheduling a device-to-device (D2D) wireless device using resource blocks (RBs) of active cellular wireless devices in a wireless network. The method includes determining a power allocation for each of the RBs based on achieving a target rate for the D2D wireless device and the active cellular wireless devices, and scheduling the D2D wireless device based on the determined power allocation.

Device-to-device communication with long-term resource allocation

Systems and methods for interference and/or power reduction for multiple relay pairs using cooperative beamforming are provided. A method of operation of a network node in a cellular communications system includes determining beamforming weights for multiple subchannels for each of multiple relay nodes such that a parameter is minimized. The parameter is a maximum per subchannel interference and/or per relay power usage. Determining the beamforming weights includes determining a dual problem of the minimization of the parameter where a solution maximizing the dual problem will minimize the parameter; reformulating the dual problem into a semidefinite programming (SDP) problem; and determining if signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) constraints are active. If the SNR constraints are all active, the method includes determining optimal beamforming weights a first way and if the SNR constraints are not all active, determining optimal beamforming weights a second way. In some embodiments, the performance of relays is improved.
