An example apparatus can comprise a memory; a processor executing instructions stored in the memory to: receive a message from an AP requesting a role in a network; based on receiving the message, access a deployment policy; determine whether the deployment policy is defined for the AP; and based on determining that the deployment policy is defined for the AP, assign the role to the AP corresponding to the deployment policy and corresponding to at least one of a centralized system or a distributed system of the network.

Example implementations relate to partitioning a radio into chains to scan channels. In some examples, a network device may comprise a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to partition a default radio of the network device into a service chain and a scan chain in response to a scan request, scan a particular channel with the scan chain to discover devices operating on the particular channel of a network, and combine the service chain and the scan chain into the default radio.

Embodiments are directed to access point deployment in a network including a centralized system and a distributed system. An embodiment of an apparatus includes a memory and a processor executing instructions stored in the memory. The instructions include instructions to receive a message from an access point (AP) requesting a role in a network and, based on reception of the message, to access a deployment policy. The instructions further include instructions to determine whether the deployment policy is defined for the AP and, based on a determination that the deployment policy is defined for the AP, to assign the role to the AP corresponding to the deployment policy and corresponding to at least one of a centralized system or a distributed system of the network.

Example implementations relate to antenna polarization patterns. In some examples, a network device may comprise a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to group antenna polarization patterns into polarization groups (PG)s, determine a respective packet error rate (PER) of a representative antenna polarization patter of each PG of the PGs, select a PG of the PGs with the representative antenna polarization pattern having the lowest determined PER of the PGs, and associate with a client device an antenna polarization pattern having the lowest determined PER of the selected PG.

A beacon sensor device may include a communication resource to transmit a plurality of advertisement types. Each of the plurality of advertisement types may include a plurality of advertisement frames. The communication resource may further receive a connection request from a network device. The beacon sensor device may further include a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions. The machine-readable instructions may cause the processing resource to determine that the connection request is made in response to the transmission of a particular advertisement type of the plurality of advertisement type. The instructions may further cause the processing resource to determine the active services associated with the particular advertisement type and enable the services associated with the particular advertisement type.

Example implementations relate to access point contention window alterations. For example, a system for access point contention window alterations may comprise a processing resource; and a memory resource storing readable instructions to cause the processing resource to: calculate an activity value for a station of a network; and alter a defined contention window of an access point coupled to the station when the activity value is above a threshold activity level.

A system with a device including a hardware processor is configured to perform operations: receiving, by the device, a message over a wired medium, wherein the message has a frame including (a) a MAC address as a source MAC address for the frame and (b) a second MAC address as a destination MAC address for the frame, extracting, by the device, the frame from the message received over the wired medium, and wirelessly transmitting, by the device, the frame without modifying the source MAC address and without modifying the destination MAC address.

Described herein are systems, methods and computer program products for controlling operation of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices, such as wireless beacons. Multiple BLE devices may be controlled centrally or may work together in a cooperative fashion such that signals can be exchanged between or repeated by BLE devices in order to allow for signals received at one BLE device to reach another BLE device without requiring further central interaction. Power settings of BLE devices may be altered to change power consumption or to change a detectable range of the BLE devices.

Described herein are systems, methods and computer program products for controlling operation of wireless beacons, such as Bluetooth Low Energy beacons.
