A method is provided for limiting double-frequency internal power distortion in a power system. The method includes receiving an input voltage from a voltage source at a power converter from which an output power is provided to an electrical load, measuring the output power having a waveform with a steady-state component and a double-frequency transient component, executing computer-readable program code, via processing circuitry, to determine a compensating waveform equal in amplitude to the double-frequency transient component, and that is anti-phase to the double-frequency transient component, and causing the power converter to generate the compensating waveform such that the waveform and the compensating waveform superpose, and the double-frequency transient component of the waveform and the compensating waveform destructively interfere, leaving the steady-state component that is delivered to the electrical load.

Suppressing double-frequency ripple power in single-phase power converters

A desaturation detector receives signals from a gate driver and circuitry that indicate whether a power semiconductor device is on and in desaturation. A logic circuit produces a signal as a function of the signals, from which a latch circuit produces an output signal. The signal has first and second values respectively in an as-designed condition, and in a short-circuit condition in which the power semiconductor device is on and in desaturation. The output signal has the first value, and transitioned and latched to the second value in response to a transition to the short-circuit condition, which causes the gate driver to switch the power semiconductor device off. And filter(s) reduce noise within the desaturation detector.

Short-circuit protection for a power semiconductor device

A method is provided for power limiting in a power inverter configured to produce an output voltage and having a voltage regulator with a voltage setpoint defined for no load on an external bus line. The method includes determining a power level related to a load on the external bus line, determining an adjusted voltage setpoint based on the power level, including: decreasing the voltage setpoint to the adjusted voltage setpoint having a first value when the power level is above a maximum threshold, increasing the voltage setpoint to the adjusted voltage setpoint having a second value when the power level is below a minimum threshold, and slewing the adjusted voltage setpoint to the voltage setpoint so that the adjusted voltage setpoint has a third value when the power level is within a range defined by the maximum threshold and the minimum threshold.

Regulating the operating point of a power inverter

A power system for connecting a variable voltage power source, such as a power controller, with a plurality of energy storage devices, at least two of which have a different initial voltage than the output voltage of the variable voltage power source. The power system includes a controller that increases the output voltage of the variable voltage power source. When such output voltage is substantially equal to the initial voltage of a first one of the energy storage devices, the controller sends a signal that causes a switch to connect the variable voltage power source with the first one of the energy storage devices. The controller then causes the output voltage of the variable voltage power source to continue increasing. When the output voltage is substantially equal to the initial voltage of a second one of the energy storage devices, the controller sends a signal that causes a switch to connect the variable voltage power source with the second one of the energy storage devices.

Energy storage connection system

A Coriolis-type fluid flow rate measuring system uses phase locked loop-based signal processing to estimate a tube vibration signal and maintain optimum tube vibrations. Analog sinusoidal sensor signals from the flow meter are digitized and processed through heterodyne mixing as part of phase locked loop tracking of the fundamental vibration or oscillation frequency. Digital signal processing is used to implement filtering and signal manipulation so as to respectively determine phase and frequency estimates for both of the two digitized signals. Frequency estimate data is used to adjust the tracker frequency mixed with the respective sensor signals. Digitally obtained phase and frequency estimate data are used to determine an optimized drive signal for continuing tube vibration. Phase estimate information for the two respective sensor signals is used to determine phase shift data, used in turn to determine a fluid flow rate through the flow meter.
