Disclosed herein are multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) LiDAR systems in which the fields of view of multiple illuminators (e.g., lasers) overlap and/or fields of view of multiple detectors (e.g., photodiodes) overlap. Some embodiments provide for illuminators that transmit substantially white pulse sequences that are substantially uncorrelated with each other so that they can be distinguished from one another when detected by a single detector.

Distributed aperture optical ranging system

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for estimating target ranges, angles of arrival, and speed using optimization procedures. Target ranges are estimated by performing an optimization procedure to obtain a denoised signal, performing a correlation of a transmitted waveform and the denoised signal, and using a result of the correlation to determine an estimate of a distance between the sensor and at least one target. Target angles of arrival are estimated by determining ranges at which targets are located, and, for each range, constructing an array signal from samples of received echo signals, and using the array signal, performing another optimization procedure to estimate a respective angle of arrival for each target of the at least one target. Doppler shifts may also be estimated using another optimization procedure. Certain of the optimization procedures use atomic norm techniques.

Signal detection and denoising systems

Disclosed herein are multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) LiDAR systems in which the fields of view of multiple illuminators (e.g., lasers) overlap and/or fields of view of multiple detectors (e.g., photodiodes) overlap. Some embodiments provide for illuminators that transmit pulse sequences that are substantially white and substantially uncorrelated so that they can be distinguished from one another when detected by a single detector.

An antenna system comprises an antenna module, a controller, and a processor. The antenna module is capable of adopting, at any time, any one of a plurality of polarities. The controller is capable of providing a time-varying control signal to the antenna module. At a specified time, the time-varying control signal directs the antenna module to adopt a specified polarity. The processor obtains, from the antenna module, at least one digital stream in response to an incident radio-frequency (RF) signal impinging on the antenna module. At the specified time, the at least one digital stream corresponds to the antenna module having adopted the specified polarity. The processor analyzes the at least one digital stream from the antenna module, and generates an output signal corresponding to the incident RF signal.

Antenna system

An antenna module, system, and method for receiving an incoming signal in a confined space are disclosed. The antenna module comprises a plurality of antenna elements and a plurality of combiners, each of the plurality of combiners coupled to a subset of the plurality of antenna elements. The system includes the antenna module, a processor, and a controller. The processor receives and analyzes outputs from the antenna module and generates an output signal corresponding to the incoming signal. The controller controls states of the antenna module, which is capable of being in any of a plurality of states to receive the incoming signal.

Indoor antenna system and method of operation

An indoor antenna system comprises one or more antenna modules. Each antenna module comprises an antenna array configured to receive an input signal and generate a plurality of outputs, a selector that selects a subset of the plurality of outputs, and a converter that converts the subset of the plurality of outputs into a set of digital streams. The antenna system further includes a processor that receives and analyzes outputs from the one or more antenna modules and generates an output signal corresponding to the input signal, and a controller that controls states of the one or more antenna modules. Each antenna module is configurable to be in any of a plurality of states to receive the incoming signal. The controller is configured to cause the state of each antenna module to change.

Techniques for transmitting and sharing a video sequence over an ultra-low bandwidth channel, such as a short message service (SMS) channel, are disclosed herein. A video is segmented into regions of various interest levels. A set of parameters is developed from a video region of a high interest, wherein the parameters represent a mapping function of a database to model the video region. The set of parameters is transmitted over the ultra-low bandwidth channel to a remote device, wherein the remote device also has access to an instance of the database. The remote device synthesizes the video by using the mapping function of the database, which is represented by the transmitted set of parameters.

Video transmission and sharing over ultra-low bitrate wireless communication channel

Techniques for generating a video sequence of a person based on a text sequence, are disclosed herein. Based on the received text sequence, a processing device generates the video sequence of a person to simulate visual and audible emotional expressions of the person, including using an audio model of the person's voice to generate an audio portion of the video sequence. The emotional expressions in the visual portion of the video sequence are simulated based a priori knowledge about the person. For instance, the a priori knowledge can include photos or videos of the person captured in real life.

Wireless devices capable of one or more of extended multiple input multiple output (MIMO), dual bonded, and dual concurrent operation are disclosed. Methods for switching between the operational states for wireless devices capable of multiple operational states are also disclosed.

Adjustable operational state wireless MIMO

A technique involves using a fast Fourier transform (FFT) module to transform multiple different types of signals. This may be accomplished using one or more of three techniques: logic within the FFT module can enable different processing depending upon a processing state, the FFT module can be called iteratively to transform a signal that is larger than the FFT implemented in the FFT module, the FFT module can be used for parallel transformation of multiple signals that are smaller than the FFT implemented in the FFT module. Thus, a single FFT module can be used to transform a first type of signal (e.g., WIFI) and a second type of signal (e.g., GPS) if configured according to the technique.

Multifunctional signal transform engine

A technique for processing received signals in multiple-antenna systems. Received signals from the different antennas may be amplified by a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) and time-multiplexed by a switch to form a single analog signal. The time-multiplexed analog signal is down-converted and processed using a single RF chain for each signal component. This may result in an N-fold decrease in hardware in multiple antenna receiver systems.

Multiple antenna receiver system and method

A technique weights noise power used in a demodulation/demapping process using on an estimate of interference and its associated power. Using this technique the effect of partial interference can be ameliorated. For example, a value, &#x3c3;, can be used to represent the estimated noise and interference power, and &#x3c3;can be used to modify a received signal to ameliorate the effects of noise and interference. &#x3c3;can be adjusted in response to partial interference, and can be represented by the formula: &#x3c3;=&#x3c3;+q &#x3c3;, where &#x3c3;is 'noise power,' &#x3c3;is 'interference power,' and q is an interference correction factor.

Mitigating interference in a coded communication system

A technique for low-complexity high-performance coherent demodulation of GFSK signals involves utilizing a novel phase and frequency tracking mechanism coupled with a trellis search technique to track signal memory in the demodulation process. A method according to the technique may include modeling modulation based upon a trellis. The method may further include estimating unknown parameters, selecting a maximum likelihood path through the trellis, and mapping the maximum likelihood path to an output bit sequence. The technique is also applicable to DSPK and other applicable known or convenient protocols.
