A kit is disclosed that includes a first component comprising alginate, wherein the first component is comprised in a first sterile vile, and a second component comprising cells comprising keratinocytes or fibroblasts, or mixtures thereof, that secrete one or more biologically active molecules selected from the group consisting of GM-CSF, VEGF, KGF, bFGF, TGF&#x3b2;, angiopoietin, EGF, IL-I&#x3b2;, TGF&#x3b1;, and TNF&#x3b1;, wherein the cells are allogeneic and mitotically inactive, a buffered solution, and human serum albumin or a cryoprotectant, wherein the second component is comprised in a second vial.
