The invention relates to the use of creatine, creatinine and/or derivatives thereof and/or their salts in an agent for hardening, strengthening, restructuring or increasing the shine, volume or combability of keratin fibers, particularly of human hair.

Use of agents containing creatine, creatinine and/or their derivatives to fortify and improve the structure of keratinic fibers

The method of hardening, fortifying, restructuring, repairing, increasing volume or stabilizing keratinic fibers, especially human hair, includes providing a keratinic fiber treatment composition containing from 0.05 to 1.0 percent by weight of creatine, a salt of creatine, creatinine and/or a salt of creatinine, bringing the keratinic fiber treatment composition into contact with the keratinic fibers and allowing the keratinic fiber treatment composition to remain in contact with the keratinic fibers for a certain time interval.

Method of treating keratinic fibers with creatine, creatinine and/or their salts to strengthen, restructure, harden and stabilize them

The two-component hair treatment product consists of one component (A) and another component (B). Component (A) contains an acid and component (B) contains a base. Less than 3 g of the base and/or acid are soluble in 100 ml of water at 20&#xb0; C. The acid is preferably a dicarboxylic acid, such as sebacic, dodecanoic dicarboxylic acid or tetradecanoic dicarboxylic acid. The base is preferably ammonia, an alkyl amine or an alkylol amine. Prior to use in a method of permanent hair shaping or hair care, the components are mixed with each other to form a ready-to-apply mixture having an automatically continuously or gradually changing pH that changes within from one to 60 minutes so that damage to the hair due to high pH is avoided. For permanent shaping of hair the initial pH of 8 to 13 falls from about 1 to 4 pH units within from 10 to 30 minutes after mixing the components.

Two component agent with a time dependant pH and method of treating hair with said agent

The composition for hardening, strengthening and restructuring keratin-containing materials and/or for increasing the volume of keratin-containing fibers, such as hair, contains from 0.3 to 50.0% by weight of one or more reductones, each having a &mdash;(HO)C&boxH;C(OH)&mdash; group. The reductone ingredient is preferably ascorbic or isoascorbic acid, a salt of ascorbic or isoascorbic acid, such as an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt, an ester of ascorbic or isoascorbic acid, 6-O-palmitoyl ascorbate, ascorbyl phosphate, 2,3-dihydroxy-2-propenal and hydroxypropanedial. A method of treating keratin-containing materials or fibers to harden, strengthen and restructure keratin-containing materials and/or to increase the volume of the keratin-containing fibers by applying this composition and allowing it to act is described. A method of pre-treating keratin-containing material that is to be subjected to a chemical or physical treatment, such as dyeing or permanent shaping is also described.
