For a new transmission time interval, respective weights are assigned to queues. The queues are ranked as a function of the weights assigned to them. The first queue according to the ranking is selected. A quantity dependent on the radio conditions in respect of the radio terminal to which the said radio session relates, and on a number of packets already transmitted within the context of the said session is calculated for each session within the context of which it is required to transmit data packets placed in the selected queue. Communication resources are allocated to some of the sessions so as to transmit a number of data packets placed in the selected queue, depending on the weight assigned to the selected queue, the said sessions being determined as a function at least of the said quantities calculated. Once the selected queue has been served, and if there are still resources available for the transmission time interval, we pass to the next queue in the ranking so as to serve it.

Method of allocating resources in a radiocommunication system and base station for implementing the said method

The digital symbols of a sequence are assigned to respective positions in successive timeslots, according to a predetermined slot format. In a plurality of timeslots, a symbol of the sequence is replaced by a substitution symbol carrying additional information. A signal representing the sequence of symbols, which is divided into the timeslots, is transmitted on a communication channel. The production of the sequence includes an interleaving having an interleaving period longer than a timeslot, generally performed after a channel coding. The position of the substitution symbols in the timeslots which include them is varied, in order to optimize the performances of the transmission chain.

Method for processing digital symbols in a communication system and transmitter and receiver for carrying out the method

A sequence of modulation symbols defines at least two bit groups, including a first group of bits located in at least one first bit position within the symbols and a second group of bits located in at least one second bit position within the symbols and having a higher probability of transmission error than the bits of the first group. The coded information bits of a block are arranged to form a first sequence of bits in which each information bit is assigned to a respective one of the bit groups. The bits of the first sequence are then interleaved to form a second sequence of bits while preserving the assignment of the information bits to the bit groups. The bits of the second sequence are finally mapped onto the sequence of modulation symbols.

Method and apparatus for producing and processing sequences of modulation symbols

A first unit successively transmits data blocks destined for a second unit. For at least some of the transmissions of blocks, the second unit returns an acknowledgement signal indicating whether the data block transmitted has been correctly received. The first unit transmits a redundancy block with regard to a block previously transmitted for which the acknowledgement signal received indicates incorrect reception. Each block transmitted is accompanied by an identification signal indicating whether it is a redundancy block. The first unit associates each acknowledgement signal received with a block transmitted in a temporal relation determined with the reception of this acknowledgement signal. In response to the reception of an identification signal inconsistent with an acknowledgement signal previously returned, the second unit returns to the first unit a restart command signal for the transmission of the blocks.

A preamble for a reverse access channel (RACH) of a CDMA (code division multiple access) communications system comprises a pair of constituent Golay sequences A and B concatenated with at least one pair, and preferably a plurality of different pairs, of transformed sequences which are also constituent Golay sequences, each pair of transformed sequences comprising a permutation of elements of the pair of sequences A and B. The permutations can include a reversed order of elements in the sequences, a reversed order of some or all of a set of address bits identifying locations of elements in the sequences, a concatenation of subsets of elements in odd and even locations of the sequences A and B, and combinations of these permutations. A method for providing the preamble, and related apparatus using a bidirectional counter and an address permutation unit, are described.
