A lightning protection system for a tower of a wind turbine is provided. The tower includes a reinforced concrete tower wall in which a plurality of electrically conductive structural reinforcing elements are embedded during construction. The lightning protection system includes a plurality of the structural reinforcing elements connected in an electrically conductive manner with each other and with a ground terminal. Further, a method of incorporating such a lightning protection system in a reinforced concrete tower, and a wind turbine with such a lightning protection system is provided.

Lightning protection system

A lightning protection system for a wind turbine includes at least one insulated high-voltage cable, a pick-up unit and an additional insulated high-voltage cable. The at least one insulated high-voltage cable is electrically connected to a lightning receptor and to the pick-up unit. The pick-up unit is electrically connectable to an electrically grounded member by the additional insulated high-voltage cable.

Lightning protection system for a wind turbine, wind turbine and method for protecting components of a wind turbine against lightning strikes

A lightning protection system is provided for a wind turbine. The wind turbine has an electrically grounded structure part, a main shaft electrically and mechanically connected to the grounded structure part, a blade hub rotationally connected via a main bearing to the main shaft and blades connected to the blade hub. The lightning protection system includes a down-conductor attachable inside one of the blades and a high voltage conductor for guiding lightning current, wherein a first end of the high voltage conductor is in electrical communication with the down-conductor. The lightning protection system also includes a high voltage contact attachable inside the main shaft, wherein a second end of the high voltage conductor is in electrical communication with the high voltage contact. Lightning current is guided from the down-conductor via the high voltage conductor to the high voltage contact.

A lightning protecting system for a nacelle of a wind turbine is described. The lightning protecting system includes a conductor device, which includes a core conductor, an isolating material surrounding the core conductor, and a shielding structure surrounding the isolating material, an input port, which is connected to a first end of the core conductor and which is adapted to be connected to the lightning rod, and an output port, which is connected to a second end of the core conductor and which is adapted to be connected to the support structure. Further described are a nacelle for a wind turbine, a wind turbine, a method for protecting a nacelle of a wind turbine, which all take benefit from the mentioned lightning protecting system. Furthermore, it is described a use for the mentioned lightning protecting system.

Lightning protection for a nacelle of a wind turbine

An arrangement to detect a lightning strike in a wind turbine is provided. According to the arrangement, the wind turbines contains an ozone sensor. The ozone sensor is located close to a component of the wind turbine. The component is constructed and arranged in a way that a lightning current, which results from a lightning strike into the wind turbine, is conducted through the component. The component is constructed and arranged in a way that the lightning current results in a corona generating a certain amount of ozone gas, which is detected by the ozone sensor.

Arrangement for lightning detection at a wind turbine

An arrangement to detect a fault electrical connection in a wind turbine is provided. According to the arrangement, an ozone sensor is located close to a dedicated electrical connection within the wind turbine. A certain amount of ozone gas, which is generated by a corona due to a fault of the dedicated electrical connection, is detected by the ozone sensor.
