A tag assembly is described wherein the tag assembly is affixable to clothing and/or a body and wherein the assembly includes a support sheet; a tag disposed on the support sheet, the tag being configured to transmit a signal to a receiver; and, an expandable spacer structure disposed the support sheet, the expandable spacer structure providing a predetermined spacing between the tag and the body, the expandable spacer being configured to expand from a thin non-expanded state to a expanded state of a predetermined spacer thickness.

Tag assembly

A portable free-standing vertical RF antenna structure for use in an UHF timing system comprises a base structure for supporting the vertical antenna structure on a substantially horizontal surface. At least a first antenna unit comprising a first planar RF antenna and at least a second antenna unit comprising a second planar RF antenna, the second antenna unit being located above the first antenna unit, are coupled to the base structure and form a vertical RF antenna structure. The first and second antenna unit is positioned such that the inclination angle between a main axis of the radiation field of the first RF antenna and the horizontal surface is selected between 10 and 50 degrees. The inclination angle between a main axis of the radiation field of the second RF antenna and the horizontal surface is selected between &#x2212;20 and 20 degrees.

Vertically-oriented antenna structure for a timing system

A wearable sport timing tag assembly comprising at least a first and second tag is described for transmitting data associated with the wearer of the tag assembly to at least one detection antenna, wherein the tag assembly comprises means for attaching the tag assembly to at least a body part or clothing of the wearer, wherein when attached to said body or clothing the main signal transmission direction of said first tag being in a first direction; and, the main signal transmission direction of said second tag being in a second direction which is different from said first direction.

Wearable sports timing tag assembly

Computer-implemented methods for managing communication between each of the plurality of wireless RF nodes and a base station using frequency hopping over M non-overlapping frequency channels in a wireless network is provided. The communication is carried out according to a time slot schedule comprising M time slot assemblies, each time slot assembly comprising at least one time slot for the base station to transmit, preferably by broadcast, data on a different channel of the M channels, and R time slots, R being an integer equal to or greater than 1, for one or more of the plurality of nodes to transmit data to the base station. The methods described herein enable a point-to-multipoint wireless communication system in an ISM frequency band that can provide a reliable RF data link even in an area that already comprises one or more WLAN networks that operate in the same ISM frequency band.

Fast radio frequency communication for sport timing applications

The disclosure relates to a method and system for detecting an event on a sports track. By applying one or more track segments across the width of the sports track and detecting passage of participants for the track segments, a comparison can be made between detected passage results and known passage results that may e.g. be available from a storage internal or external to the system. A deviation between the detection results and the known results that exceeds a particular deviation margin may be used as an immediate sign of an irregularity occurring during the sports event. The irregularity may e.g. relate to malfunctioning of one or more components of the time monitoring system or to deviating behavior by a participant to the sports event.

Method and system for detecting an event on a sports track

The present invention relates to an autostereoscopic display device, comprising an imaging layer () and a lens layer (). The lens layer () serves to project different content from the imaging layer () to the left and right eyes, respectively, of a user. The lens layer () comprises lens cells (), enclosing two fluids () with different refractive indices. The shape of the interface between the fluids may be changed using electrowetting, by means of two individually controllable electrodes () at the sides of each lens cell (). The display device further comprises a user head tracking device and means for controlling the lens cell electrodes depending on a detected user head position. This allows the display device to display a correct 3D-image, even if the user moves his head.

Autostereoscopic display device

The display device of the invention comprises a flexible display element that can be extended in rollable fashion between a first position and a second position. In the first position the element is present in a housing and in the second position it is at least partially visible. The display element is supported in its second position by foldable arms. According to the invention a foldable arm comprises means which facilitate the extension of the display from the first to the second position and from the second position to a further position. These means also counteract any tendency of the display to return by itself from the second or any further position to the first position.

Display device and electronic appliance for use in combination therewith

A display has reduced moire interference. The display has a backplane with a regular array of pixels and a frontplane with a regular array of cells. The backplane and frontplane are laminated together. The width of the distribution of aperture (the total inner cell area above an active pixel area divided by total pixel area) over the display is reduced. Sinusoidally curved walls or other curved pixel edges may be used in the frontplane or backplane to control the distribution.

Flexible display device rollable between rolled-up and unrolled states

The register () for papers of value (), such as bank notes and vouchers, comprises a reading unit () for reading out the memories of the integrated circuits () of the papers of value (), and is further provided with a clock and a memory. The total value present in the register () can be determined by reading out all papers of value that are present at a moment, and by repeating this if desired. The register () may be portable, such as a wallet. The paper of value () with an integrated circuit () and antenna may also be a sales slip.

Holder for papers of value, and method of registering the contents thereof

The device comprises a memory () with a first section () and a second section (). The second section () can be read only after erasure of the first section (). The memory is suitable for authentication purposes, in that the first section () contains a first code part and the second section contains a second code part of an identification code. The device is preferably an semiconductor device and can be integrated in articles and in record carriers.
