A technique facilitates a drilling operation, e.g. a land-based drilling operation, by enabling a substantial reduction in the number of equipment components. According to an embodiment, a mud pump assembly is provided with at least one mud pump located on a rig positioned at a wellsite. Electric power is provided to the rig to enable operation of the rig, including operation of the mud pumps when pumping mud downhole to facilitate drilling of a borehole. The rig's electric power also is used to operate a cement mixer for mixing a cementing fluid. This cementing fluid may be pumped downhole during a cementing operation by the same mud pumps employed during the mud pumping operation.

Methodology and system for utilizing rig power and mud pump assembly

A technique facilitates a drilling operation, e.g. a land-based drilling operation, by enabling a substantial reduction in the number of equipment components. According to an embodiment, a mud pump assembly is provided with at least one mud pump located on a rig positioned at a wellsite. The mud pumps may be run to perform a mud pumping operation by pumping mud downhole during drilling of a borehole, e.g. a wellbore. During stoppage of the mud pumping operation, the same mud pumps are utilized to perform a cementing operation in which cementing fluid is pumped downhole for cementing of casing. The use of the same mud pumps enables the operator to eliminate not only the separate cement pumps otherwise used for the cementing operation but also the motive units that would be associated with those separate cement pumps.

Embodiments disclosed provide a pump assembly including a first pump for delivering at least one fluid. The first pump may include a first inlet coupled to the first pump for delivering at least one first fluid to the first pump, a second inlet coupled to the first pump for delivering at least one second fluid to the first pump, a first discharge coupled to the first pump for delivering the at least one first fluid at a first pressure, and a second discharge coupled to the first pump for delivering the at least one second fluid at a second pressure. In some embodiments, the first discharge and the second discharge are isolated from each other.

Systems for preparing emulsions can include a first fluid tank, a second fluid tank, and a circulation loop comprising a buffer tank and a pump, in some arrangements. The first fluid tank and the second fluid tank can be in fluid communication with the circulation loop via a first fluid inlet pipe and a second fluid inlet pipe, respectively. An outlet pipe can be in fluid communication with the circulation loop.

An apparatus for deploying an instrument usable with a well comprises at least one reversibly expandable structure, at least one actuator operable to change a perimeter dimension of the at least one reversibly expandable structure, at least one instrument disposed interior of the at least one reversibly expandable structure, and having an axial dimension, and tractoring fluid disposed between the at least one reversibly expandable structure and the at least one instrument. Wellsite systems utilizing deployable structure

A technique facilitates combined drilling and coiled tubing operations from a single bed of a rig. A mast is mounted to the bed, and a coiled tubing injector is connected to the mast. The coiled tubing injector is able to move coiled tubing into and out of a wellbore. A starter head also is mounted to the mast. The starter head is rotatable to make and break connections of tool string components. However, the starter head generally is rotationally stationary during drilling operations.

The present invention provides a rig capable of both coiled tubing and conventional drilling. The rig comprises a mast unit having a drilling mast and a catwalk. The mast unit is adapted for rotary drilling and casing operations. The rig further comprises a drill floor unit adapted to house a drilling cabin and hold a drilling BOP stack while in transport. The rig additionally comprises a coiled tubing unit that is controllable from the drilling cabin.
