A print head mounting assembly and a method of mounting and positioning a print head on a print head carriage framework suitable for mounting in a printing system includes a print head positioning device for receiving a print head, and a print head mounting tile having a mounting surface for mounting the print head positioning device. The print head mounting tile is adjustably mounted on the print head carriage framework such that it provides a mounting surface for the print head positioning device that is level with a reference printing surface, when the print head carriage framework is mounted in the printing system. The print head positioning device is adjustably mounted on the print head mounting tile such that the print head, being received in the print head positioning device, is accurately positioned on the mounting surface of the print head mounting tile.

A flexible laminate is disclosed which includes a flexible support as a first layer and glass having a thickness in the range from 10 &#x3bc;m to 500 &#x3bc;m as a second layer and wherein the first or the second layer is a non-continuous, segmented layer. In the embodiment of the figure, a plastic foilis provided with a plurality of thin adjacent glass segments, which are separated by a space. The laminate can be provided with functional layers, e.g. using a web coating or printing process, and can then be cut easily in the space between the segments so as to obtain a plurality of glass laminates.

A material is disclosed which is suitable for reducing the reflection of information displays such as a CRT, LCD, plasma tube, etc., and is characterised by an improved pencil hardness and excellent optical properties (lower average reflection, higher bandwidth). The anti-reflection material of the invention comprises an anti-reflective coating and an optional top coat on a flexible glass substrate that is capable of being wound around a cylindrical core having a radius of 1.5 m. In a preferred method of the present invention the glass substrate is provided with anti-reflective coating using a continuous web coating process while being laminated to a polymer support by using adhesive layer . Upon delamination (arrows ) the adhesive layer may remain fixed to glass substrate (right embodiment of FIG. ) or to polymer support (left embodiment of FIG. ). After said delamination the glass substrate provided with anti-reflective coating may be adhered to the front panel of an information display device.

A method for making a semiconductor device is disclosed which comprises the step of applying a functional layer on a substrate, characterized in that said substrate is a laminate which comprises a support and a glass layer, said glass layer having a thickness of less than 700 &mgr;m. The support is preferably a plastic foil. The laminate has the combined benefits of low weight and high strength and is therefore a suitable substrate for making flat panel displays such as liquid crystal displays, plasma displays, field emission displays or organic light-emitting polymer displays. Preferred examples of the functional layer are e.g. electroconductive layers, liquid crystal orientation layers, color filters, electroluminescent layers, passivation layers and phosphor layers.

An apparatus for the processing of photographic sheet material comprises a plurality of treatment cells (12.sup.1, 12.sup.2, 12.sup.3) mounted one beside another to define a substantially horizontal sheet material path (14). Each cell comprises a housing (16) having a sheet material inlet (18) and a sheet material outlet (20) each being closed by a rotatable path-defining roller (28) biased into contact with a reaction surface (26) to form a nip (30) there-between through which the sheet material path (14) extends. The apparatus is characterized by sealing means (33) to seal each path-defining roller (28) to the housing (16) and means (36) to define a static liquid level (S) above the nip plane (P).

Apparatus for the processing of photographic sheet material

This invention relates to a continuous process for producing a web of thin, chemically hardened glass that can be wound on a roll. The process comprises the steps of (i) drawing glass, containing original alkali ions, to form a web of glass having a thickness equal to or lower than 1.2 mm and having a first and second major surface; (ii) directly after or during said drawing, treating both said surfaces of said web with chemical hardening means during less than two hours, replacing said original alkali ions by alkali ions having a larger radius; and (iii) after treating both said surfaces, winding said web on a core.

The apparatus comprises at least one treatment vessel (12) comprising a housing (14) having a sheet material inlet opening (17) and a sheet material outlet opening (18) defining a sheet material path (20) through said vessel (12). Each opening (17, 18) is closed by a path-defining rotatable roller (28) biased towards a reaction surface (30) to form a nip (36) there-between through which said sheet material path (20) extends. The path-defining roller (28) is in contact along its length, with a plurality of rotatable intermediate rollers (38) carried in fixed bearings (40) mounted on said housing (14).

Apparatus for the wet processing of photographic sheet material

The apparatus comprises a housing (10) defining a treatment vessel (12.sup.2) having entrance and exit openings (16, 20) defining a sheet material path (22) therethrough. The lower opening (20) is closed by a pair of path-defining rollers (28, 26) biased into contact with each other to form a nip (28) through which the sheet material path (22) extends. The housing (10) includes a collecting chamber (50) positioned to collect treatment liquid which in use falls from the treatment vessel (12.sup.2) through one or both of the openings. The collecting chamber (50) is a closed chamber (50) and means (52) are provided to return treatment liquid from the collecting chamber (50) to the treatment vessel (12.sup.2). The construction has the advantage that the wastage of treatment liquid is reduced without requiring the use of complicated and costly sealing devices.

According to the present invention an element comprising a layer on a glass support characterised in that: (i) the thickness of said glass support is less than 1.2 mm, (ii) said glass support has a failure stress (under tensile stress) equal to or higher than 5.times.10.sup.7 Pa and (iii) the sides in the longitudinal direction have a rounded border with a radius in the order of magnitude of half of the thickness of the glass support.

A method of processing photographic sheet material comprises passing the sheet material along a sheet material path (20) through a processing apparatus comprising a plurality of processing cells (12, 12', 12'), and causing processing liquid to pass across the surface of the sheet in at least one of the cells. The cell is a closed cell the speed of liquid flow across the sheet material, as measured in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the sheet material path (20), is at least 3 times the speed of the sheet material along the sheet material path (20) and the resultant liquid flow speed is at least 100 mm/sec. The consistency of reaction kinetics at the sheet material surface are improved.

Apparatus for exposing and processing a photographic recording material, generally called imaging element, comprising (i) an exposing part, generally called imagesetter, in which the imaging element is imagewise exposed, and (ii) a processing part, generally called processor, in which the imaging element is wet processed, characterized in that the exposed imaging element is fed automatically from the imagesetter into the processor and in that the processing is carried out along a substantially vertical path.
