A radiation curable inkjet ink set comprising a cyan inkjet ink containing a beta-copper phthalocyanine pigment and a polymerizable composition; a magenta inkjet ink containing a magenta or red pigment and a polymerizable composition; a yellow inkjet ink containing a yellow pigment and a polymerizable composition; and a black inkjet ink containing a carbon black pigment and a polymerizable composition; wherein the polymerizable compositions of the cyan, magenta, yellow and black inkjet inks include on average: a) 20.0 to 40.0 wt % of phenoxyethyl acrylate; b) 23.0 to 32.0 wt % of isobornyl acrylate; c) 1.0 to 14.4 wt % of monomer selected from the group consisting of 4-acryloylmorpholine and a monomer according to Formula (I), wherein X represents C or O, n represents 1, 2 or 3 and m represents 0 or 1; and d) up to 14.0 wt % of a multifunctional monomer or oligomer; wherein all weight percentages (wt %) are based upon the total weight of the inkjet ink; and wherein 0, 1 or 2 of the cyan, magenta, yellow and black inkjet inks deviate in a range a) to d) and this deviation is no more than 1.0 wt %.

Radiation curable inkjet ink sets

A UV curable colourless inkjet liquid includes at least one radical photoinitiator and a polymerizable composition, wherein the polymerizable composition contains a mixture of: a) 25 to 50 wt % of a monofunctional methacrylate; b) 40 to 70 wt % of a polyfunctional acrylate; and c) 0 to 15 wt % of a monofunctional acrylate; with the weight percentage wt % based on the total weight of the polymerizable composition.

UV curable colourless inkjet liquids

A method of producing a security document includes the steps of producing a first part of a color image by color laser marking a security document precursor; and producing a second part of the color image by a second imaging technique different from laser marking. The resulting security document is more difficult to falsify.

Colour laser marking

A method for preparing a color laser marked article using three infrared lasers L-1, L-2 and L-3 having respectively a laser emission wavelength of &#x3bb;(L-1), &#x3bb;(L-2) and &#x3bb;(L-3) includes the steps of laser marking with the infrared laser L-1 a first color laser markable layer including an infrared dye IR-1 having an absorption maximum in the infrared region &#x3bb;(IR-1); laser marking with the infrared laser L-2 a second color laser markable layer including an infrared dye IR-2 having an absorption maximum in the infrared region &#x3bb;(IR-2); laser marking with the infrared laser L-3 a third color laser markable layer including an infrared dye IR-3 having an absorption maximum in the infrared region &#x3bb;(IR-3); and at least partially exposing the color laser markable article to light having a wavelength between 520 nm and 700 nm, wherein, the laser emission wavelengths satisfy the condition of: &#x3bb;(L-1)&#x3e;&#x3bb;(L-2)&#x3e;&#x3bb;(L-3); the infrared red dye absorption maxima satisfy the condition of: &#x3bb;(IR-1)&#x3e;&#x3bb;(IR-2)&#x3e;&#x3bb;(IR-3); and the light emitted by the infrared laser L-1 passes, in order, through the third and second color laser markable layer before exposing the first color laser markable layer.

Color laser marking

A security laminate () including in order a transparent oriented polyester support (), a subbing layer () and an adhesive layer () which is coated on top of the subbing layer, wherein the binder of the adhesive layer is based on a mixture of a first and a second polymer in a weight ratio from 50/50 to 90/10, wherein the first polymer is a copolymer comprising vinyl acetate and at least 85 wt % of vinyl chloride based on the total weight of the first polymer; wherein the second polymer is a copolymer of styrene, butadiene and methylmethacrylate or a copolymer of vinyl butyral, vinyl acetate and vinyl alcohol; and wherein the binder of the subbing layer is based on a polyester-urethane copolymer.

A method of preparing a security laminate including the steps of: a) providing a polyethylene terephthalate substrate (); b) stretching the polyethylene terephthalate substrate in either a longitudinal or a transversal direction; c) coating and drying a first coating composition () on the stretched polyethylene terephthalate substrate; d) stretching the coated polyethylene terephthalate substrate in the longitudinal or transversal direction not selected in step b) in order to obtain a coated biaxially stretched polyethylene terephthalate substrate having a layer of the first coating composition with a dry thickness between 50 nm and 400 nm; e) coating and drying a second coating composition () on top of the dry layer on the biaxially stretched substrate, wherein the first coating composition contains a copolymer selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl&#x2014;functional, partially-hydrolyzed vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer and a polyester-urethane copolymer; and wherein the second coating composition contains a hydroxyl&#x2014;functional, partially-hydrolyzed vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer. A security document precursor including, in order, at least: a) a transparent biaxially stretched polyethylene terephthalate foil; b) a colorless color forming layer containing at least an infrared absorber, a color forming component and a polymeric binder; and c) a polymeric support; wherein the colorless color forming layer contains at least one component forming a compound having a melting temperature of less than 20&#xb0; C. upon laser marking the colorless color forming layer with an infrared laser. A method for preparing a color laser marked article comprising the steps of: a) infrared laser marking a security element including a polymeric support and a color forming layer comprising a color forming compound, an infrared dye and a polymeric binder comprising vinyl acetate and at least 85 wt % of vinyl chloride based on the total weight of the binder; and b) exposing the laser marked security element with light having a wavelength higher than 440 nm. The light exposure of step b) hinders the falsification of an issued security document without significant increase of background density.

A method of color laser marking an article having a polymeric foil with at least one colorless layer containing an infrared absorber, a polymeric binder and a color forming compound; including the steps of:&#x2014;laser marking the colorless layer with an infrared laser using a first laser operation mode to generate a blue or cyan color; and&#x2014;laser marking the same colorless layer with an infrared laser using a second laser operation mode to generate a black color, wherein the first laser operation mode applies less energy to the colorless layer than the second laser operation mode.
