A particulate polyurea compound a2) for reducing gloss of coatings, a resin composition and a crosslinkable composition comprising the particulate polyurea compound is provided, wherein the volume percentage of particles of the particulate polyurea compound having a diameter of smaller than 10 μm is equal or less than 40%, and the volume percentage of the polyurea product having a diameter larger than 20 μm is equal or more than 11%.

The invention relates to a coating system comprising a binder composition comprising a polymer having a Mn of 6,000 to 60,000 g/mol, a Mw of 20,000 to 300,000 g/mol, a Tg of 30 to 180° C. and an acid value of at most 3.0 mg KOH/g, and a RMA crosslinkable coating composition comprising a component A with at least two acidic protons C—H in activated methylene or methine groups, a component B with at least two activated unsaturated C═C groups and a base crosslinking catalyst C; and its use for improving adhesion of the RMA crosslinkable coating composition, in particular to wood substrates.

Adhesion promoter systems and methods of producing same, the systems including the admixing product of at least 60 percent by weight of a first functionalized polyolefin, and less than 40 percent by weight of a second functionalized polyolefin, based on the total weight of the solid content, and one or more solvents. The second functionalized polyolefin includes homopolymers of propylene or copolymers of propylene with hexene, octene and/or other alpha-olefins. The homopolymers or copolymers have a single unsaturation a terminal succinic anhydride moiety, and additional succinic anhydride substitutions on the polypropylene backbone. The succinic anhydride substitution ranges from about 5 to about 45 weight percent of second functionalized polyolefin.

Adhesion promoter system, and method of producing the same

A method for making a copolymer polyol includes (a) forming a pre-compounded thermoplastic polymeric composition by compounding from 10 wt % to 90 wt % of a solid functional additive component with from 10 wt % to 90 wt % of a polystyrene component, (b) melting the pre-compounded thermoplastic polymeric composition to form a melted thermoplastic polymeric composition, (c) combining the melted thermoplastic polymeric composition with a carrier polyol component in the presence of a stabilizer component to form a pre-mixture that includes the pre-compounded thermoplastic polymeric composition dispersed within a continuous phase of the carrier polyol component, and (d) cooling the pre-mixture to form the copolymer polyol.

Polystyrene is dispersed into a polyol via a mechanical dispersion process. A stabilizer is present to stabilize the dispersed polymer particles. The stabilizer includes a copolymer of (1) from 10 to 70% by weight of a branched polyol which has a molecular weight of from 4000 to 20,000, from 0.2 to about 1.2 polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule and from about 3 to about 8 hydroxyl groups per molecule with (2) from 30 to 90% by weight of styrene or a mixture of styrene and one or more other low molecular weight monomers.

Melt dispersion process for making polymer polyols

The invention relates to polycarbonate containing a dianhydrohexitol residue, obtainable from a polysaccharide, and a polyol residue, wherein the polycarbonate comprises between 0.2 and 5 mmol hydroxyl groups per gram polymer. The polycarbonate may be branched and comprises functional groups that can react with suitable crosslinkers. The polycarbonate can be used in for example coating compositions.
