The invention provides a mixing apparatus. The mixing apparatus includes a first container, wherein the first container comprises: a first port; and a mixing chamber. The mixing apparatus further includes a second container, wherein the second container is adapted to receive the first container, and a seal disposed between the first container and the second container. In addition, the mixing apparatus includes a channel between the first port and the mixing chamber, wherein the channel is defined by the seal and the first container. In some examples, the seal includes: a first seal portion; and a transition seal portion, the transition portion comprising: a seal split; and an air intake channel.

A drinks machine has an output nozzle for delivering hot water or steam, Steam is used by a milk frothing unit whereas hot water is delivered by the output nozzle directly to the exterior of the drinks machine for collection in a drinks vessel. A single nozzle is thus provided for steam or hot water delivery and there is no need for any accessory when delivering hot water. This means that there is reduced cost, fewer components to lose, and simplified cleaning, in that only per-use cleaning of the milk frothing unit is required, not the fixed parts of the appliance associated with the milk frothing unit.

An apparatus for preparing hot beverages includes a heater and a latent heat storage provision (LHSP) that is in thermal contact with the heater. The LHSP contains, or is configured to contain, a phase-change material. The apparatus further includes an electric circuit for powering the heater. To provide an infant drinking device with a more reliable aerator, the infant drinking device comprises a teat, a reservoir for holding a liquid, a connector for detachably connecting the reservoir to the teat, and an aerator. The aerator (e.g., a duckbill valve) includes a deformable opening (e.g., a slit) whereby internal/external pressure differential during use of the device is reduced in an open position of the opening by allowing air to enter through the opening into the reservoir and such that leakage of fluid from an inside of the drinking device to an outside of the drinking device is hindered in a closed position of the opening. During assembly of the teat, connector and reservoir, a minimally defined deformation of the opening of the aerator is enforced by at least one of a geometrical property and a material property of the teat or the connector.

A separation assembly for separating dirt and dust from air in a vacuum cleaner, through which assembly an air flow path extends from an inlet to an outlet. The air flow path extends through an upstream separator and a downstream separator. The downstream separator includes an air-permeable filter element bounding an inner space. The wall sections bounding the air flow path in the area of the downstream separator include at least a transparent section through which the filter element is visible. The inner space is located upstream of an area outside the filter element for filtering air flowing from inside the filter element to outside the filter element.
