A method and apparatus are provided for exchanging information between at least some slots of a first T-carrier and some other non-coincidental slots of a second T-carrier. The method includes the steps of exchanging information between successive slots of the first T-carrier and respective predetermined memory locations within a memory device and exchanging information between successive slots of the second T-carrier and at least some of the predetermined locations in memory of the first T-carrier based upon a channel-exchange list relating at least some channels of the first T-carrier to at least some other channels of the second T-carrier.

Timeslot interchange circuit supporting PCM, ADPCM, and multiple data channel connectivity to T1 and E1 circuits

A method and apparatus are provided for exchanging control information and voice data between an automatic call distributor and a line card of the automatic call distributor located at a site remote from the automatic call distributor through a wide-bandwidth communication channel. The method includes the step of allocating at least a first portion of the bandwidth of the wide-bandwidth communication channel for the control information and at least a second portion of the bandwidth to voice data. The interprocessor control information is transceived between a controller of the automatic call distributor and a controller of the line card under a packet data format within the first portion of the bandwidth allocated for control information and the voice data is transceived under a dedicated channel format within the second portion of the bandwidth between the automatic call distributor and line card.

Switch voice/data service extension to remote facilities

A method and apparatus are provided for processing signals received on a R multifrequency compelled signalling subscriber channel within a telephone switch. The method includes the steps of disposing a digital signal processor within the telephone switch between an inbound path of the R multifrequency compelled signal subscriber channel and a controlling processor of the telephone switch and detecting an R multifrequency compelled signalling control transmission by the digital signal processor on the inbound path. The method further includes the steps of responding to the control transmission by the digital signal processor transmitting an acknowledgement on an outbound path of the subscriber channel and transferring a symbolic representation of the control transmission to the controlling processor of the switch.

R2 multi-frequency compelled signalling using a DSP on a network termination card

A time slot interchange having a data channel memory, a channel circuit, having a write address output, the write address output connected to the data channel memory, a signal processing circuit, having a channel input coupled to the data channel memory, a gain input, and an output coupled to the time division multiplexed signal output port, and a connection memory, including a unique read channel field comprising a read address portion and a gain value portion for each data channel to be output by the time slot interchange network. The connection memory has an input connected to the write address output of the channel circuit, a read address output connected to the data channel memory, and a gain value output connected to the gain input of the signal processing circuit.

Timeslot interchange network

An apparatus and a method are provided for switching an information signal from a selected input to a selected output of a telecommunications switch. The method includes the steps of digitally sampling the information signal at the selected input of the telecommunication switch and writing the sampled information signal into a predetermined location of a data frame within a circulating data loop at a first station of the circulating data loop. The method further includes the steps of capturing the sampled information signal at a second station of the circulating data loop and transferring the captured information signal to the selected output of the telecommunications switch.

Modular switching system

A telecommunication system (10) having a multiport receiving switch (12) with a central control circuit (14) for distributing information received over a multichannel link (28) from a multiport sending switch (30) to at least one of a plurality of various applications in the telecommunication system (10) with a data delay buffer (54) for temporarily delaying the sending of data transmitted across the multichannel link (28) to a peripheral circuit (26) for a predetermined interval in response to the seizing of a channel at the receiving switch (12).

A telephonic switching network (20) having a plurality of multichannel incoming switching circuits, a central control processor (22) for controlling the incoming switching circuits (24, 36) to switch a selected plurality of incoming time division multiplex channels of PCM voice data on incoming lines (42) of a plurality of multichannel receiving circuits (36) to a plurality of selected outgoing channels on ongoing lines (58) of a plurality of multichannel outgoing switching circuits in accordance with messages representative of analysis of signaling data embedded in the PCM voice data by a plurality of relatively lower order processors (78) of said plurality of incoming multichannel switching circuits which are transmitted directly to the central control processor (22). Messages from the central control processor (22) cause the lowest order processors (70), of the receiving circuits to preselect the multiple channels on the incoming lines (42) associated therewith for cross connect treatment or signaling data analysis treatment on a channel by channel basis. A multichannel signaling control circuit (80) is responsive to the incoming signaling data and to a hardware state machine (82, 84) associated therewith for analysis of the signaling data on each channel according to different ones of a plurality of signaling formats preselected for each of said channels.

Multichannel telephonic switching network with different signaling

Transmissions of synchronous digital data from a master control unit (50A) to a slave, network termination unit (50B) are via a pulse width modulated data stream including pulse width modulated binary code pulses (20, 22) with a pulse width modulated synchronization pulse (24) all of which have a preselected leading edge transition (28) at the same point in each cycle of a master clock signal. A clock signal is derived at the network termination unit (50B) from the received pulse width modulated binary data stream for decoding and for nonself-clocking, synchronous transmissions from the slave, network termination unit (50B) to the master, control unit (50A). The phase synchronization pulse (24) is employed to maintain phase sychronization between the transmission to and from the control unit (50A).
