A method for ringtone, voice, and sound notification of printer status, comprising obtaining status information of a printer, converting it into an audible report, and delivering the audible report. The method is especially useful for visually-impaired users and for shared printers in crowded situations where it is difficult for each user to see the panel or monitor display. The methods also include detection by the events controller, UI manager instructing an audio manager, codec decoding an audio file in firmware and hardware organization; job owner identification information embedded into a print job with a unique tag; user identification sound data embedded in a print job; audible report for multiple jobs in a job queue, with positional information; text-to-speech conversion; unique ringtone melody for each user, comprising department prefix, higher pitch modulation for higher priority, and automatically converting an alphanumeric character into the corresponding note.

Ringtone, voice, and sound notification of printer status

A method for processing print data to a printer, comprising processing data through an optimized tester, which transforms the data by simplifying each page image while preserving information to enable recognizing identity of each page; and sending the transformed print data to a printer. The invention results in conservation of paper and toner while testing of printing systems, and presents a uniform and general way of transforming print data by simplifying each page image. The methods also include shifting printing position for each printing run to enable reuse of paper, substitution with an identification number or scaled-down image; sending normal print data through optimized tester; optimized tester generating print data, using saved print file; printer driver containing optimized tester; embedding print data PDL with tester commands; processing data through optimized tester parser and renderer within printer controller; saving data in NVRAM; and only storing log data corresponding to simplified transformed data into log storage without consumption of paper or toner.

Printer testing system that conserves paper and toner

A method for providing release-dependant filenames for a device driver, by providing Config information and a table of the driver's component files; assigning unique, release-dependant filenames for the component files; and producing the device driver containing the release-dependant filenames. Scripts and a preprocessor are used to convert filenames and template filename references into actual names. Name conversion comprises converting by a preprocessor for compiled files and converting by scripts for other files. Unique names of files enable simultaneous operation of two versions of a device driver. Methods include encoding module name, version numbers, date, language, and OEM information into the filename; one alphanumeric-character version number and two-character language code; configuration file and automatic generation of Config information; printing device driver with major and minor version numbers; and date encoding for files that are updated more frequently than version updates.

Release-dependant filenames for device drivers

A method for interfacing single transfer and burst transfer components, comprising: processing transfer completion of a byte in burst transfer as an interrupt; maintaining the current state of signal lines to prevent occurrence of next interrupt; copying the transferred byte from buffer to memory; and allowing next interrupt; and enabling sending of next byte in burst transfer. This invention interfaces incompatible signaling of the components, and solves the handshake, communication and buffering problems involved. The methods also include polling simulating an interrupt, prevention of premature transfer and overwrite, interrupt on an edge of a busy signal, disabling and enabling clock to maintain current status, packet exchange protocol involving header, body and checksum, command and status packets, copying task waiting on a blocking semaphore which is signaled by interrupt handler task, and signals from a first component routed to a conversion component which generates new signals compatible with the second component.
