A dental patient chair having support arms extending from a chair back above and alongside a chair seat and latch means operable by a user to release the support arm from a locked first use position or a locked second out-of-the-way position for movement between said positions.

A coupler is adapted for inserted engagement with a dental ejector valve and serves to couple a vacuum hose to the valve. A passageway in the coupler is closed by a flexible disk which flexes open in response to a vacuum inducted ejector system flow from a source. The disk is confined in place across the passageway by a retainer which biases the disk into engagement with a valve seat surface. The flexible disk blocks any reverse flow through the coupler as when a reduced pressure occurs from interaction of the patient's mouth with a saliva ejector.

A saliva ejector tip system, which prevents the problem of backflow when a patient closes his lips around an ejector tip, includes seal-interfering structural features on the outer surface of an ejector tip. A tip holder carried by a saliva elector hand tool couples with the proximal end of the tip in vacuum-tight engagement.

A telescopic arm assembly for use in conjunction with a dental chair unit and attachable to a post of the unit. A main arm defines a slot at its inner end to receive an arm support including a pivot pin about which the arm may move in an upright manner. A limit stop on the support controls arm movement. A secondary arm supports a tool holder at its outer end and is provided with pin-shaped followers at its inner end which ride along guides extending lengthwise of the main arm to prevent rotation of the secondary arm within the main arm.

An ergonomically designed professional services chair baseplate that facilitates ease of operation for both the service provider and client. A narrow area is provided at the center section of the baseplate such that the baseplate does not protrude beyond the vertical projection of the edge of the chair. This narrow section is further sized and shaped to easily accommodate standard cleaning and buffing machine wheels. Enlarged areas are positioned fore and aft of the narrow section to provide stability to the chair. A sloped shoulder on each side of the aft enlarged areas may hold a chair controlling foot switch.

A dental control unit for use by dentists and having a base, a housing on the base to enclose control structure for dental handpieces and connections for conduits interconnecting the control structure and the handpieces and a removable top cover that is fitted over the housing to prevent spattering of contaminating fluids onto the housing and that further includes parallel, spaced apart elongate cavities that are shaped to receive, position and maintain separated the conduits and attached handpieces placed on the top cover.

A dental control unit of the kind pivotally mounted on a swinging arm and having a support base for operatory equipment and a housing covering said equipment and base includes a pair of fully interchangeable handles, releasable mounted to the bottom of the base and means on the top of the base to lock the handles to the bottom of the base with the handles being selectively locked in place and released by movement of finger tabs projecting through the base by an operator grasping the handles beneath the base.

A dental syringe is constructed as an assembly of which the handle, head and tip components, which together include substantially all of the exterior surfaces of the syringe, can be quickly detached from an internal cartridge, which is connected to the utility conduits. The cartridge is constructed to close off the utility lines when it is detached from and to open the utility lines when it is connected to the remainder of the assembly.

An actuator for a control valve of a dental syringe having a body including a button having a head larger than the diameter of a passageway in which the actuator is to be installed to actuate a control valve of the syringe, a shoulder closely fitting in the passageway, a shaft smaller than the shoulder and having an O-ring snugly fitted therearound and the O-ring also fitting into a groove provided therefor in the passageway, a valve stem engaging portion and a tapered collar extending from the shaft to the valve stem engaging portion to provide for easy O-ring installation.

Actuator for a control valve of a dental syringe

A dental syringe is disclosed having a head and attached handle. Finger actuated valves in the head control water and air flows to a syringe tip having concentric conduits. A tip retainer assembly includes a holder having a socket to insertably receive the syringe tip. A lock collar, slidably carried by said holder, has a conical surface which acts on ball elements in the holder to urge them into locking engagement with a grooved, inserted portion of the syringe tip. A spring automatically positions the collar to the locking position with movement of the collar in an opposite direction to a tip unlocking position by fingertip pressure applied to the collar.
