In line carburetor () is mounted to a manifold () over the engine (). The barrels of the carburetor deliver air/fuel suspensions to concentrated positions () of the manifold, with the concentrated positions being at opposite ends of the engine. The ports leading from the manifold to the runners are equally positioned about the concentrated positions () so that the runners are of substantially equal length and resistance, thereby providing more uniform delivery of the air/fuel suspension to the cylinders.

In-line induction system for internal combustion engine

A fuel delivery system for an internal combustion engine includes induction conduits of effectively equal flow resistance for guiding separate air and fuel streams to each of the cylinders of the engine. Each induction conduit includes at its entrance a sleeve venturi for inducing fuel into the air stream and a booster venturi. A fuel injector applies fuel at high pressure to the booster venturi. Flow modifiers may be positioned in the venturi throat and down stream of the venturi for modifying the flow of the stream of air after the fluid has been induced and injected into the stream of air for further subdividing the fuel vapor for increased effect of combustion of the fuel and air mixture.

Carburetor air filter

A carburetor for a high performance vehicle includes an actuator lever mounted to a first valve linkage for rotating a first pair of carburetor butterfly valves and a crank mounted to a second valve linkage for rotating a second pair of carburetor butterfly valves, a cam mounted on the actuator lever for engaging and moving said crank and rotating said second pair of valves in response to the movement of the actuator lever, and a quick disconnect coupling between said actuator lever and said cam such that the cam is removable from said actuator lever and can be replaced by another cam.

A carburetor assembly includes a base plate () having an air bypass passage () extending there through, with air channels (-) formed in the surface of the base plate intersecting the air bypass passage and each of the butterfly bores (-) of the base plate. An adjustable air bypass valve () is mounted on the base plate and controls the movement of air through the bypass passage. A valve needle () is adjustably mounted to the valve body () for adjustably constricting the flow of fluid through the radially extending air inlet ports () and through the base plate air bypass passage, to allow for the adjustment of the volume of the air delivered to the engine at idle speed, independently of the movements of the butterfly valves.

Fuel pump assemblyincludes a filterthat rests on ledge, between the pump housingand inlet cap. Filter detectorhas a valve engagerfor opening the check valveand bearing feetthat engage the perimeter of the filter. When the filter is absent from the pump, the bearing feetof the filter detector move beyond the ledgeinto the recessand the valve engager stemretracts from the check valveand the valve closes to terminate flow of fuel to the pump. The inlet and outlet capsandare rotatably mounted to the intermediate body of the pump to allow the fuel inlet and outlet to be oriented at angular intervals about the pump. A progressive seal is formed at the O-ringbetween the inlet end capand the fuel pump housing to continue the seal as the end cap is removed or reassembled with the housing so that the check valve is closed before the housing is opened.

A carburetor for an internal combustion engine includes idle passages (A andB) extending through the carburetor body adjacent each cylinder bore (A&#x2013;-D) of the carburetor, such that the idle passages bypass the cylinder bores. A common fuel flow metering circuit () is in fluid communication with at least two of the idle passages for joining the fuel flowing from the idle passages and redistributing the fuel back to the idle passages. A metering valve () is positioned in the common fuel flow circuit for metering the flow of fuel through the common fuel flow metering circuit, so that equal distribution of the fuel is delivered to the cylinders of the engine in spite of possible unequal flow of fuel being received through the idle passages.

At least one of the inlet and outlet capsandare rotatably mounted to the intermediate body of the pump to allow the fuel inlet and outlet to be oriented at angular intervals about the pump to facilitate the connection of fuel lines to the pump.

The nitrous oxide injection tubeis formed with delivery portsthat include interior boresthat communicate with the internal passageof the injection tube and larger external boresthat extend through the exterior surfaceof the injection tube. The external bores are each angled toward the position of the entrance of a fuel runner that communicates with a cylinder of a combustion engine so that the nitrous oxide and the fuel carried by it are more uniformly distributed to each cylinder.

A nitrous oxide and fuel injector assembly is mounted to an air supply conduit of an internal combustion engine. A support platform (), () is placed inside the air supply conduit in abutment with the external wall of the air supply conduit, with connector conduits (), () extending from the support platform through openings in the air supply conduit, so the connector conduits protrude outwardly from the air supply conduit. Fasteners, such as internally threaded nuts (), are threaded onto the external threads of the connector conduits, holding the assembly in place on the air supply conduit. Fuel injectors (), () are threaded into the internal threaded through bores () of the connector conduits.

Carburetor

Fuel accumulator () includes a segmented housing () that includes a front wall (), rear wall (), and a fuel delivery ring (). The fuel outlet ports () and () are formed in the fuel delivery ring, and the fuel delivery ring can be detached, rotated and reattached at different angles about the housing. Flexible diaphragm () and the air behind it in the rear wall interior cavity () modulate the pressure of the fuel inside the fuel accumulation chamber (), (), as the fuel passes through the filter ().

Fuel bowls are placed on opposite sides of a carburetor, and a fuel transfer tube extends between the fuel bowls. External fuel receiving fixtures are mounted in fluid communication with the fuel bowls and have nipples facing each other. The fuel transfer tube is telescopically mounted at its ends to the nipples and O-rings seal the ends of the tubes to the nipples.
