A system and method for monitoring and tracking the position of a subject comprises, in an exemplary embodiment, a transponder configured for being co-located with the subject and a means for enabling communication between the transponder and a remote GPS-enabled receiver, such as a cell phone or the like, for selectively triangulating the position of the transponder. In the exemplary embodiment, the means for enabling such communication is software that is installed in and executed by the receiver. The software allows the receiver to triangulate the geographic position of the transponder by fixing a first reference point based on the location of the GPS-enabled receiver, fixing a second reference point based on the location of a network broadcast site through which the receiver and transponder communicate, and calculating the location of the transponder based on the angular position of the transponder relative to the network broadcast site.

System and method for tracking lost subjects

An ink and method of its use for printing on a variety of substrates in a first aspect involves a water-insoluble colorant, water, and a primary solvent such as diacetone alcohol capable of dissolving both the water-insoluble colorant and the water. In a further aspect, the ink composition includes a secondary solvent capable of modifying the properties of the ink, the secondary solvent being selected from the group consisting of alcohols, amines, esters, glycol ethers, ketones, polyols, and keto-pyrroles. In a still further aspect, the ink may have at least two polyols, including a first polyol characterized by being semi-solid at operating temperature and a second polyol characterized by being liquid at operating temperature. In a further aspect, the ink composition includes a surfactant selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon-based surfactants, silicone-based surfactants, and fluorosurfactants.

Ink composition and method of use

A method for monitoring and tracking the position of a subject comprises, in an exemplary embodiment, the steps of embedding a transponder into an article to be worn by the subject and installing software in a GPS-enabled receiver, such as a cell phone or the like, for synchronizing and communicating with the transponder. The receiver is to be maintained by a user, such as a guardian or the like, and stores a unique transponder code, allowing the receiver to synchronize with the transponder. The receiver may remotely activate the transponder manually or automatically, at which point the receiver triangulates the geographic position of the transponder and determines distance and direction of the transponder from the receiver in order to guide the user in the direction of the transponder. In further embodiments, the receiver communicates the subject's information and tracking code to other subscribing receivers to increase the number of searchers.

An ink jet print head apparatus which produces variably controls the ink jet print head orifices and the size of the ink jet droplets ejected therethrough, and a method for controlling the size of said orifices and ink jet droplets. The print head apparatus utilizes orifice plates formed from piezoelectric material selected according to expansion and contraction properties for the variable control of the diameter of the orifice through which the ink is ejected from the print head. The variability of the orifice dimensions is controlled by applying a voltage across the piezoelectric members, resulting in improved control over the size of the ejected ink droplets.

Disclosed are novel methods for a protecting or preserving wood, wood composites and other cellulosic materials, and in addition, disrupting the feeding behavior and growth cycle of termites, wood-borers and other insects, by applying certain compositions thereto which contain azadirachtin carried in neem tree extracts. Disclosed are novel neem extract compositions for coating, penetrating, treating, and curing said cellulosic materials which are non-toxic and provide long active lifetimes. The compositions contain the neem extracts in combination with binding and bittering agents which enhance the effectiveness of the extracts. The compositions are made from natural, active ingredients and are water resistant. The compositions are found to be non-reactive and non-toxic to vertebrates and non-polluting of surrounding soils. When used as intended in non-aerobic applications, the compositions are resistant to oxidation and ozonation. In addition, when used as intended in areas without sunlight, i.e. subterranean or concealed use, the compositions are not subject to UV and photo degradation.

Method for using neem extracts and derivatives for protecting wood and other cellulosic composites

This invention applies to methods for creating opaque indicia on substrate surfaces and to non-pigmented, moisture-free, jet ink compositions containing only solvents and solvent soluble resins and dyes that exhibit the acceptable characteristics of opacity, contrast, adhesion and machine compatibility. The compositions are on weight percentage basis as stated below. The compositions contain a combination of film forming resins of varying molecular weights of a dry resin solids percentage between 8 and 15%. The resins are chosen from the following: nitrates of cellulose; acrylics; alkyds; vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymers; and styrene acrylic. The quantities of resin are chosen according to the desired viscosity, adhesion strength of film on the subject substrate and the degree of shearing of the drying resin mixture. An optimum balance of adhesion and opacity is stoichiometrically obtained. The differential solubilities of the resins in the solvent-blend is the prime moving factor of the opacifying action. The use of acid dyes and basic salts that exhibit fluorescence is considered and used in the formulations to enhance the visibility and contrast of the resultant opacified dried state of resin solids on the substrate surface. The use of specific plasticizers are another feature of this invention. Plasticizers are used in the ink jet composition to increase the flowability of the composition and also increase the tensile strength and adhesion of the ink to the substrate to which it is applied. The principle of this invention is that a water-free, multi-solvent and multi-resin jet ink which characteristically forms micro laminate miscelli and plasticizers is found to have good adhesion and opacity, and can be used to mark code and indicate non-absorbent dark substrates.

Non-pigmented opaque jet ink compositions and methods of creating opaque

An apparatus for generating a deep U-shaped vortex, with the vortex being of sufficient height to include a relatively large air well in its center. The apparatus may be used as an amusement park ride, wherein it comprises an observation platform, a large vessel partially filled with liquid, and an impeller to rotate the liquid within the vessel and thereby create a vortex of liquid within the vessel. When the vortex is created, an air well develops in the center of the vessel, with the air well being of sufficient size to allow the entry of the observation platform therein, with the observation platform being surrounded below and at its sides by the rotating liquid, but without coming into contact with the rotating liquid.
