Devices and methods of measuring a handsaw or other cutting blade are described. The device may be in the form of a tension gauge that includes a first plate associated with a moveable protrusion such as a pin that deflects the blade and a second plate that is pivotably attached to the first plate and includes two or more fixed pins.

Tension gauge for bandsaw blades

A work holding device, such as a vice, includes first and second jaws and a spindle connected between them to change the distance between the jaws for holding a work piece. An elongated connection member extends from the first jaw and is shaped to fit into a receiver member of a receiver hitch on a vehicle. Adjustable projections are provided on the elongated connection member for reducing movement of the vice in the hitch. The adjustable projections may be set screws. An end cap is provided on the end of the elongated connection member. The work holding device may be mounted in a receiver member or bracket on a workbench or other work area.

Portable work holding device and assembly

A drill press has variable speed drive via belts on stepped pulleys that transfer rotational force from the motor to the drill press spindle. Three stepped pulleys connected by two belts are provided in the example. A belt tension roller is bears against one of the belts to provide tension for effective power transfer from the motor to the spindle. The belt tension roller is adjustable along an arcuate slot in an anchor plate and is fastenable in position by an adjustment knob on the belt tension roller. The middle pulley is mounted to vary its position so that tension adjustments on one belt by the belt tension roller result in tension adjustments on the second belt as well.

A bench grinder has a tool rest mounted on a bracket and disposed adjacent a grinding wheel of the grinder. The tool rest has a tool rest platform that is connected to the bracket by a pivot connection and that may be secured in different angular positions by a bolt, such as a hand bolt. The bracket end to which the platform is affixed is provided with a cylindrical surface portion marked with angle marks. An opening is provided in the tool rest platform through which the angle marked surface is visible. An indicator line on the tool rest platform aligns to the angle mark to indicate the angle of the platform.

Drill press

A dust collector for collecting sawdust and wood chips during use of wood working tools includes a conduit or hose connected through an impeller forcing air with entrained dust and chips to an inlet ring of a single stage dust collector. A particle collector reservoir is connected on the bottom of the inlet ring and a filter element is connected on top of the inlet ring. A tapered ring wall with a central opening is provided in the inlet ring and a baffle is mounted in the central opening of the ring wall. The baffle is of a cone shape and tapers an opposite direction from the frusto-conical ring wall. The inlet opening of the inlet ring is directed to between the ring wall and the baffle.

A cutting tool in accordance with the invention may include an arbor lock, located within its housing, for preventing the arbor from rotating to assist an operator in installing, removing or replacing the saw blade. The cutting tool may also include an internal storage compartment for storing items or equipment, including those for use in connection with the cutting tool, an internal mobility system to assist the operator in moving the cutting tool when desired, and a cutting implement angle memory indicator for aiding the operator in keeping track of a desired cutting implement position. The cutting tool may also be provided with a sturdy bench top extension extending out from the cutting tool housing which the operator may use to perform a variety of workshop tasks including some not related to the use of the cutting tool itself.

A tool sharpener accessory having a base mounted on a support, a pivoting member pivotally mounted on the base and pivoting in at least a seesaw motion relative to the base, the pivoting ember having an axis of rotation adaptable for extending transverse to the axis of rotation of the grinding stone, and a securing mechanism for securing the tool to the pivoting member.

A power tool and accessories therefor including a variable speed motor for a mortiser, an integrated chisel positioning tool for positioning a chisel in a desired position, and an integrated tool sharpening device mounted directly on the power tool to permit ease and efficiency in the sharpening of tools. Additionally, an improved clamping arrangement is provided that permits firm clamping of a work piece without slippage. Greater flexibility in the hold down may be achieved by using arms for the hold down that are both rotatable about and can be translated along respective horizontal axes.
