A method for conditioning a flexible medical endoscope () having internal channels (), so as to maintain disinfection of said endoscope () following processing to a state of high level disinfection, comprises the steps of: (a) connecting the internal channels () of the endoscope () to connectors (-) enabling fluid communication with a reservoir () of disinfectant fluid (); (b) charging the internal channels () with disinfectant fluid () from the reservoir (); (c) disconnecting the internal channels () from the connectors (-); (d) sealing the endoscope () in a pouch () having a substantially air-tight seal () and a valve () enabling connection to suction means (); and (e) connecting and activating the suction means () so as substantially to reduce pressure within the pouch (), thereby partially evacuating the pouch ().

Conditioning medical equipment

A method for conditioning a flexible medical endoscope () having internal channels (), so as to maintain disinfection of said endoscope () following processing to a state of high level disinfection, comprises the steps of:

A method is provided for maintaining the disinfection of medical equipment, in particular medical endoscopes (), following processing. The method comprises placing the disinfected equipment () in a sealed chamber (), and subsequently reducing the pressure within the sealed chamber () to cause evaporation of residual moisture. Gas scavenger sachets () are also provided within the sealed chamber () to remove atmospheric oxygen, thus causing a further reduction in the chamber pressure. The method may optionally include a further step of charging the sealed chamber () with a disinfectant gas or vapor. The processed medical equipment () is then maintained at the desired level of disinfection within the controlled biostatic environment in the sealed chamber ().

Maintaining disinfection of medical equipment

A kit for the storage and transportation of medical equipment () following processing or use thereof contains, as its principal component, a tray () defined by a base () and surrounding walls (). The tray () has at least one fold line () formed in the base and/or walls (), thereby to facilitate compaction of said tray () for disposal. Optional further components of the kit include: a tray line (); a protective cover () adapted to be detachably secured to the tray (); a lid () adapted to engage with the walls () of the tray (); and an oxygen-impermeable container () adapted to receive said tray () therewithin.

Medical equipment storage and transportation kit

An apparatus and method for performing an operation on a workpiece at an inaccessible location are described. The apparatus includes a tube with proximal and distal ends, the distal end being insertable in use into an inaccessible location. A head is flexibly coupled to the distal end of the tube and can be moved relative to the tube by control means. Laser energy can be transmitted through the tube and out of the head. The apparatus includes viewing means for gathering and displaying an image of the workpiece and tracking means operable to identify and record the position of one or more selected points of the workpiece. A processor is provided to actuate the control means so as to move the head to direct the laser energy to the selected point or points of a workpiece and to control the laser so as to perform the desired operation on the workpiece.
