A foldable vehicle seat includes a seat base having a seat support frame, a seat back extending from the seat base, and a foldable section connected to the seat back. The folded section has a folded and unfolded configuration, and comprises a hinge mechanism with a pivot point, a first support, a second support, and a top surface configured to store luggage thereon. The first support is connected to the hinge mechanism and is rotatable about the pivot point. Likewise, the second support is connected to the hinge mechanism and is rotatable about the pivot point. The first and second supports contain first and second magnets, respectively, which are configured to retain the foldable section in the folded configuration.

A latching mechanism configured to secure a first component and a second component. The latching mechanism includes a locking plate that operatively engages a first latch plate and a second latch plate. The plates each include an end that inserts into a slot located on the second component, therein securing the first component to the second component. Actuation of the latching mechanism displaces the plates, therein releasing the ends from the slot and allowing for movement of the first component in relation to the second component.

Seat latching mechanism

Disclosed is a modular seat for aircraft. The system has a frame that is able to be interconnected with other frames laterally. Since each lateral frame has the same pivot points (when viewed from the side), the linked seats rotate together. The seats also include buckle lugs which enable a particular seat to be used on either side of the aircraft.

A seat footrest includes a footpad having a supporting plate under a cushioned top side, an arcuate member mechanically coupled to the plate by a first end and pivotally coupled to a seat frame by a second end. The arcuate member is adapted for pivoting the footpad between a stowed position and one or more deployed positions. A lock pin is provided for releasably inserting into a first notch of the arcuate member for securing the footpad in the stowed position and one or more additional notches of the arcuate member for securing the footpad in the one or more deployed positions. A first biasing member is adapted for initiating deployment of the footpad upon release of the lock pin from the first notch, and a second biasing member is adapted for completing deployment of the footpad by raising the footpad to the one or more deployed positions.

Seat footrest

An articulating armrest includes a first protrusion and a second protrusion that protrude from a member a predetermined spacing apart. Each protrusion aligns within a separate track within a housing configured for stowing the armrest within a seat back. The two tracks include straight and curved portions configured to articulate the armrest. Specifically, the armrest moves along a curvilinear path between stowed and deployed positions by translating along the tracks and pivoting about the second protrusion. The armrest may stow in a seat back and beneath the seat bottom to provide a full length armrest when deployed, and the armrest may stow flush with the seat back for sitting against. Mechanical tension may be provided to automatically deploy the armrest, and a rotational damper and a gas spring may be used to control the speed at which the armrest deploys.

Articulating armrest

A seat base for use in aircraft has a first cross member, a second cross member, a first leg, a second leg, and a base plate having a first bendable tab and a second bendable tab facing away from the first tab. The first cross member, the second cross member, and the base plate are each configured to be secured to the first and second legs in an extended position and a retracted position. The first and second legs are configured to be secured to seat feet and floor tracking rails. The first and second cross members are secured to the base plate so as to allow for selective rotation of the first and second cross members in response to relative vertical movement of the first leg with respect to the second leg.

Seat base for aircraft

A lock for locking an object in a vehicle in place comprises a base comprising a side surface and a front surface. The side surface has at least one opening, and the front surface has a ballast retainer and a hub mounting portion. A hub is rotatably coupled to the hub mounting portion. A ballast, which is operatively coupled to the hub, is housed within the ballast retainer. At least one locking member is also operatively coupled to the hub. The ballast is configured to automatically reposition itself within the ballast retainer from an initial unlocked position to a final locked position in response to a change in velocity of the vehicle. This repositioning of the ballast actuates the hub, and causes the at least one locking member to extend past the at least one opening.
