Techniques regarding a fan friction oven are provided. For example, one or more embodiments described herein can regard an apparatus comprising a processing chamber in fluid communication with a heating blower and a circulation blower. The heating blower can heat air adjacent to the processing chamber by fan friction. Also, the circulation blower can circulate the air heated by the heating blower into the processing chamber.

Techniques regarding a conveyance system with variable speed rollers are provided. For example, one or more embodiments described herein can comprise an apparatus, which can comprise a roller attached to a support member that is operatively coupled to a first gear. The first gear can drive a conveyance of the support member and the roller in a first direction. The apparatus can also comprise a shaft that can operatively couple the roller to a second gear. The second gear can drive a rotation of the roller in an axial direction.

Conveyance system with variable speed rollers

A tape drum provides an improved method for operatively coupling a ladder tape to a tilt rod in a venetian blind headrail assembly. The tape drum includes a receiving cavity and resilient opposed retaining members for retaining the tape drum in assembled position on the tilt rod. A slot on either side of the receiving cavity holds the portions at one end of the ladder tape in position across the receiving cavity so that, upon assembly of the tape drum to the tilt rod, the end portions of the ladder tape will be compressively engaged between the retaining members and the tilt rod.

A splice casing assembly for splicing together lengths of fiber optic cable wherein respective ends of individual glass fibers are spliced together by a splicing member which is attached to an elongated support bar which has an end block fastened to either end thereof to which respective strength members are fastened by being guided around respective end blocks in an axial direction and tied in a knot. Respective knots are held in place by set screws which are axially threaded into respective end blocks. The entire assembly is enclosed in a tubular housing.

A fully-reversing 2.times.2 electromechanical optical switch apparatus is set forth. Input optical signals, carried on input optical fibers, are selectively transmitted to output optical fibers in a binary relationship. The invention utilizes a pair of supports which reciprocate with respect to one another, in which one or more of the supports carry one or more loops of optical fiber for switching the path of optical data carried on a fiber.

An in-line attenuator for optical fibers includes an attenuator holder mounted within a housing. The attenuator is mounted in the housing by means permitting the attenuator a degree of movement along the longitudinal axis of the housing to make the attenuator automatically positionable when fibers are mated to the housing.

An optical fiber lens-connector assembly includes a plastic lens body joined to a tubular connector of a low thermal expansion glass. The connector includes a glass fiber guide formed of the same material (e.g., a borosilicate glass) having a substantially similar expansion coefficient. The assembly provides greater temperature stability when cycled over a wide temperature range. Fused silica quartz can also be employed as the connector material.

An optical fiber lens-connector assembly includes a plastic lens body joined to a connector of a low thermal expansion metal. The connector includes a glass capillary tube formed of a material (e.g., a borosilicate glass) having a substantially similar expansion coefficient. The assembly provides greater temperature stability when cycled over a wide temperature range.
