A method may include receiving, by a policy control function (PCF), a first message including presence reporting area (PRA) information and status information identifying a type of network coverage associated with the PRA information. The method may also include determining, by the PCF, a policy for a user equipment (UE) device data session based on the received first message, and forwarding, by the PCF and prior to establishing the UE device data session, a second message identifying the determined policy to at least one of a session management function (SMF) or an access and mobility management function (AMF). The method may further include applying the determined policy to the UE device data session.

Systems and methods for generating network policy decisions for data sessions

Systems and methods are provided to enable operators to dynamically reject user equipment (UE) registrations for 5G networks based on certain policy criteria. A network device in a core network receives a registration request for a UE device, retrieves access and mobility subscription data for the UE device, and submits a policy association request message to an Access Management-Policy Control Function (AM-PCF). The policy association request message includes the access and mobility subscription data. The network device receives a policy association response message from the AM-PCF, determines whether the policy association response message includes an error code for a failed access management policy association, and rejects the registration request when the policy association response message includes the error code.

Systems and methods for dynamic registration management in enhanced core networks

A method may include receiving, by a charging function (CHF), a data usage monitoring request associated with use of an application, wherein the data usage monitoring request identifies a data usage threshold. The method may also include transmitting, by the CHF and to a session management function (SMF) or a user plane function (UPF), a message notifying the SMF or UPF of the data usage threshold. The method may further include receiving, from the SMF or UPF, a notification that the data usage threshold has been reached, and sending, by the CHF, a message to a network exposure function (NEF) indicating that the data usage threshold has been reached.

Systems and methods for network usage monitoring

A system described herein may output a first access policy request associated with a User Equipment ('UE'). The system may receive a first access policy in response to the first access policy request, and may identify, after receiving the first access policy, that the first access policy has expired. The system may output, based on identifying that the first access policy has expired, a second access policy request associated with the UE, may receive a second access policy in response to the second access policy request, and may output the second access policy to at least one of the UE, or a radio access network (“RAN”) to which the UE is connected. The RAN may provide access to the UE in accordance with the first access policy until receiving the second access policy, after which the RAN may provide access to the UE in accordance with the second access policy.

Systems and methods for dynamic access and mobility policy refresh in wireless networks

A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which a network access management service is provided. The service may include modifying subscription data pertaining to an end device. The modification may include control data directed to remediating behavior of the end device. The service may provide the control data to the end device during a registration procedure or a deregistration procedure with the end device. The end device may execute a remedial procedure based on the control data. The service may prevent the registering of the end device to the core network. The service may deregister the end device from the core network when the end device may be registered.

Method and system for network access management of malfunctioning end devices

One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for automated recovery to re-provision a subscriber of a communication network are provided. A communication session establishment request for a user equipment of a subscriber to utilize a communication network may be received. Subscriber location information, session management subscription data, and policy data associated with the subscriber may be retrieved. A subscriber not found response may be received from a charging component as a response to a charging subscriber request for the charging component to track network and service utilization by the user equipment due to a prior failure to register the subscriber with the charging component. Accordingly, an automated self-healing action may be performed to re-provision the subscriber with the charging component for registering the subscriber for network and service utilization tracking by the charging component.

System and method for automated recovery to re-provision a subscriber of a communication network

A user equipment (UE) device may include a processor configured to establish an application session with a multi-access edge computing (MEC) device via a base station. The processor may be further configured to receive a message associated with the application session; retrieve, from the received message, an indication that a MEC indicator on a user interface of the UE device should be activated, wherein the MEC indicator indicates that a MEC application session is active on the UE device; and activate the MEC indicator on the user interface of the UE device, in response to retrieving the indication.

Systems and methods for indicating the presence of a multi-access edge computing application

A network device may receive a request for authentication data, for a UE attempting to register with a network, and an indication that a SUCI utilized by the UE is unencrypted, and may request, from a data store, the authentication data for the UE. The network device may provide, to the data store, a notification instructing the data store to push a UE parameters update (UPU) once a registration process is complete for the UE, and may receive the authentication data from the data store. The network device may complete the registration process for the UE based on the authentication data, and may receive the UPU from the data store based on the registration process being completed. The network device may cause the UE to detach from the network after utilizing the UPU, and may cause the UE to reconnect to the network with an encrypted SUCI.

Systems and methods for network-based encryption of a user equipment identifier

A real-time network consumption tracking service is provided. A charging function (CHF) device receives transaction records of network consumption by user equipment (UE) devices in a wireless network and generates individual event messages based on each of the transaction records. Each of the individual event messages includes a detailed record based on one of the transaction records. The CHF device associates each of the individual event messages with a message bus topic, formats each of the individual event messages for publication on the message bus, and publishes each of the formatted individual event messages to the message bus. The message bus is accessible to external systems that generate dynamic network consumption data sets based on the formatted individual event messages.

Enhanced real-time network consumption tracking for wireless networks

A system described herein may provide for the selection of a charging function ('CHF') associated with a particular user equipment ('UE'). A particular CHF may be selected, from a group of candidate CHFs, based on CHF selection criteria respectively associated with the candidate CHFs and attribute information associated with the UE. The attribute information may describe attributes of the UE, profile information associated with the UE, and/or attributes of traffic and/or bearers associated with the UE.

Systems and methods for selective provisioning of a charging function in a wireless network

Systems and methods described herein include receiving, at a network device, a message including an identifier associated with a subscriber and an identifier associated with a rating group associated with one or more data flows and determining a data quota and one or more usage monitoring thresholds associated with the subscriber. The data quota indicates a first amount of data associated with the rating group that the subscriber is authorized to use during a time period and the one or more usage monitoring thresholds indicate one or more second amounts of data associated with the rating group and one or more service flows that the subscriber is authorized to use during the time period. The network device transmits the data quota and the one or more usage monitoring thresholds, receives data usage information, and processes the data usage information.

System and method for monitoring usage in a converged charging system

A network device for a mobile carrier network sends, to a third-party content platform, a client message including a first dedicated subscription parameter extension. The first dedicated subscription parameter extension indicates one or more subscription parameters for a data flow between a user equipment (UE) device that originated the client message and the third-party content platform. The network device receives, from the third-party content platform, a server message including a second dedicated subscription parameter extension. The second dedicated subscription parameter extension confirms the third-party content platform will abide by the one or more subscription parameters. The network device generates, based on the one or more subscription parameters, a policy enforcement rule for the data flow that relies, at least in part, on cooperation of the third-party content platform.

Method and system for carrier-initiated traffic tuning and communication of subscriber parameters

A device receives instructions to update a field that defines a coverage area within a network. The device updates, based on receiving the instructions, the field to include a set of identifiers that are associated with a group of base stations within the coverage area. The device determines that a user equipment (UE), that is connected to the network, qualifies for the expanded data usage permissions based on account information associated with the UE including a particular identifier that allows the UE to utilize the expanded data usage permissions. The device provides, to another device, a request for data usage information that reflects the expanded data usage permissions. The device causes the data usage information to be applied to the UE.

Systems and methods for modifying data usage permissions based on an event

A first network device may receive a protocol data unit (PDU) session establishment or modification request, and may perform one or more actions based on the PDU session establishment or modification request. The first network device may receive, based on performing the one or more actions, a first message indicating that the PDU session is authenticated and authorized, and may select a second network device associated with establishing or modifying a management policy for the PDU session. The first network device may receive, from the second network device, a second message indicating whether to wait for receipt of a charging data response, to a charging data request, before interacting with a third network device, and may provide the charging data request to a fourth network device while interacting with the third network device when the second message indicates not to wait for receipt of the charging data response.

Systems and methods for providing policy control of parallel signaling in a fifth generation (5G) network

A system may receive an indication that a user device is connecting to a network and determine, based on a profile associated with the user device, that a priority associated with the user device is to be modified when congestion associated with the network reaches a level. The system may send, to a base station, a first request to monitor the congestion associated with the network. The system may receive, from the base station, an indication that the congestion associated with the network has reached the level. The system may send, to the base station, a second request to modify the priority associated with the user device when the congestion associated with the network is at the level.
