A fastening tool including a housing having a handle portion, a base for releasably mounting a power source, a nosepiece for driving fasteners into a workpiece, a magazine for feeding successive fasteners into the nosepiece, and a trigger. The trigger is configured to activate a trigger switch and initiate a fastener driving sequence. The trigger has a proximal end pivotably connected to a handle body and a distal free end adjacent to the base. The distal free end of the trigger has a curved body that extends substantially parallel to the magazine.

The present invention is directed to a vacuum including a dust extraction system. The system includes a filter assembly, an airflow generation assembly, and valve assembly. The airflow generation assembly is configured to draw contaminated air toward the filter assembly and exhaust filtered air as a discharge stream. The filter assembly is configured to remove contaminants from the contaminated airflow by capturing particulate material suspended within the airflow. The valve assembly is configured to selectively direct filtered airflow into the filter assembly such that the filtered air stream cleans the filter.

Vacuum

A transmission generally includes a shaft member having a cylindrical outer surface in which longitudinal grooves are formed. Rolling members are disposed in the longitudinal grooves. A gear member having lobes the lobes is disposed between the rolling members and over the shaft member. A clutch spring that at least partially encircles the rolling members and the lobes is also disposed. The clutch spring includes a reduced torque condition that at least defines the clutch spring stretching to accommodate the rolling members leaving the longitudinal grooves and moving to the outer cylindrical surface such that the clutch spring forms a generally elliptical shape in the reduced torque condition.

A power tool can utilize a handle that engages with a large portion of the housing and can distribute the stresses incurred by the handle over a larger area. The handle of the power tool can be a stick handle or a guard handle. The handle may be utilized to position sensors therein at positions that are remote from the working bit of the power tool. Accessory handles, such as a bail handle and a side handle, can be mounted to a single set of machined passages on the housing.

Handle and attachments for right angle drill

A transmission generally includes a shaft member having a continuous cylindrical surface portion longitudinally disposed next to a cylindrical outer surface portion interrupted by longitudinal grooves. A first gear assembly has a first clutch spring that holds a first set of rolling members between lobes that extend from a first output gear. A second gear assembly has a second clutch spring that holds a second set of rolling members between lobes that extend from a second output gear. The first gear assembly and the second gear assembly are configured to move longitudinally along the shaft member to a position where at least one of the first gear assembly and the second gear assembly is engaged for rotation with the shaft member when a value of torque at the shaft member is below a torque threshold value.

A handle for a power tool is provided including a field case and front handle portion formed as a single piece. The front handle portion has an opening in a rear side thereof for receiving the wiring for the power tool. The wiring is connected to a motor that is mounted in the field case. A rear handle portion is attached to the front handle portion for covering the opening in the rear of the front handle portion. An end cap is connected to a rear of the field case for covering the remaining exposed wires connected to the motor. With the front handle design, the wire-up of the power tool can be completed from one side of the tool without having to turn the tool over during the wire-up process.

A hand-held power tool having a multi-speed transmission and a clutch. The multi-speed transmission and the clutch are coupled to one another via a set of interconnecting tabs that are slidingly engaged to one another and secured with pins to inhibit the withdrawal of the tabs from one another. The clutch may include a clutch member, a unitarily formed clutch plate and a plurality of engagement members. The clutch plate includes an annular plate member and a plurality of leg members that extend generally perpendicularly from the annular plate member and which bias the engagement members into engagement with the clutch member. The clutch member may be coupled to an element of the multi-speed transmission, such as to the ring gear of a planetary gear set, so as to reduce the overall size of the power tool.

Power drill/driver

A fastening device 100 includes a striker 260 for driving fasteners 129, such as staples 130 and nails 131, from the device and into a workpiece 396. The device 100 includes a fastener feed track 128 and a nosepiece 140 at the forward end of the track to guide the leading fasteners 129 into a discharge space 379 for ultimate driving of the lead fastener by the striker through the discharge space and from the device. The nosepiece 140 is formed with a groove or steep slope 402 adjacent the discharge space 379 which the nails 131 to move gradually laterally into the space for proper positioning of the nails as they are being driven through the space by the striker 260. The striker 260 is formed with a notch 406 in a portion of the surface of the striker which engages the fasteners 129 to drive the fasteners from the device 100. The notch 406 forms a nest which captures a head 392 of the nails 131 to prevent the nails from moving substantially laterally into the discharge space 379 as the nails are being driven from the device 100.
