An adjustable tool station which includes a subframe, a table portion rotatably attached to the subframe, wherein the table portion includes an upper surface defining a work support plane, a tool mounted to the table portion, and a fence fixed to the subframe and extending above the work support plane, wherein the fence includes a first side and a second, opposite side. The first side constitutes a workpiece guide surface, and defines a workpiece guide area which includes all points which are closer to the first side than the second side. All portions of the subframe located within the workpiece guide area are located below the work support plane.

A yoke for mounting a saw blade to a reciprocating saw, the yoke adapted to be received by a mounting support on the reciprocating saw. The yoke includes first and second arms and a region connecting the first and second arms, the first and second arms having ends for receiving the end of a saw blade. The first and second arms and the connecting region are hollow and are formed of a composite material.

A scroll saw having a yoke for mounting a saw blade thereto, the yoke adapted to be received by a mounting support on the reciprocating saw. The yoke includes first and second arms and a region connecting the first and second arms, the first and second arms having ends for receiving the end of a saw blade. An adjustable tool station is disclosed which includes a subframe, a table portion rotatably attached to the subframe, wherein the table portion includes an upper surface defining a work support plane, a tool mounted to the table portion, and a fence fixed to the subframe and extending above the work support plane, wherein the fence includes a first side and a second, opposite side. The first side constitutes a workpiece guide surface, and defines a workpiece guide area which includes all points which are closer to the first side than the second side. All portions of the subframe located within the workpiece guide area are located below the work support plane. Additionally, the subframe includes a wear ring which is fixed to the base portion between the table portion and the base portion, the wear ring having at least three arcuate wear zones. At least three pads are provided on an underside of the table portion, each wear pad having a contact point that contacts a corresponding wear zone on the wear ring to locate the work support plane in a position generally perpendicular to the workpiece guide surface.

A restraining mechanism of an adjustable work table is disclosed for releasably restraining movement of a movable member of the table relative to a stationary member of the table. The restraining mechanism includes a clamping portion connected to one of the movable and stationary members, and a spring portion connected to the clamping portion for forcing the clamping means against the other of the movable and stationary members and thereby restraining movement of the movable member relative to the stationary member. The restraining mechanism further includes a pivot portion attached to the one of the movable and stationary members, and a lever arm portion, pivotably cooperating with the pivot, for contacting the clamping portion during pivotal motion of the lever arm portion and thereby operating against the bias of the spring portion to reduce the force applied through the clamping portion to the other of the movable and stationary members, to allow movement of the movable member relative to the stationary member.

Apparatus for supporting an object which includes at least two leg members attached to and capable of folding under an object-supporting surface. The leg members are pivotally attached to the object-supporting surface at pivot axes offset from one another relative to the object-supporting surface so that the leg members may fold under the object-supporting surface without interfering with one another. The apparatus includes diagonal supports, attached from the leg members to the object-supporting surface, which are designed to fold with the leg members. The apparatus may also include side rails defining the object-supporting surface. The side rails are configured to releasably attach to a specially configured base portion on an object such as a miter saw.

A quick release saw blade chuck for connecting a free end of a saw blade to a reciprocating arm of a saw includes a blade holder including a first surface. The free end of the saw blade is interposed between the first surface and the inner surface of a clamping member. The clamping member is coupled to the blade holder by an attachment mechanism which defines a blade-accepting space and a second space between the first and inner surfaces. A mechanism is also provided for varying the size of second space and thereby pivoting the clamping member about the attachment mechanism to vary the size of the blade-accepting space and clamp a blade inserted therein.

A bench type router/shaper which includes (i) a spindle drive pack which incorporates the motor and the spindle into a unitary package so as to establish and maintain a spacial relationship between the motor and the spindle, (ii) a semi-elastic drive belt encompassing the spindle and drive shaft which has a modulus of elasticity effective for providing effective power transmission while permitting removal and replacement of the drive belt without repositioning of the spindle and/or the drive shaft, (iii) a spindle adjustment mechanism for repositioning the longitudinal position of the spindle and thereby the depth of the cutter which includes a rotatable bell crank, a spindle in communication with the first extremity of the bell crank for linear movement of the spindle based upon rotational movement of the bell crank, and a rotatable handle in communication with the second extremity of the bell crank for producing rotation of the bell crank based upon rotation of the handle and (iv) a protective shield over the cutter which provides maximum protection with minimal interference and includes a horizontal plate which is laterally pivotable about a first pivot point proximate the right end of the horizontal plate, and a vertical plate which is longitudinally pivotally connected to the horizontal plate about a second pivot point proximate the left end of both plates.
