The equipment measures the volume of fluid injected by each injector of the system, and possibly also the relative pulses of the different lines, by measuring the volume of fuel, and possibly also the angle of turn of the injector shaft between commencements of injections of the different lines. To provide signals indicative of the commencements of injection in the various lines, circuitry is provided which comprises a single commencement of injection detector for at least one of the lines, a counter which generates pulses at a rate proportional to the revolutionary speed of the pump shaft and which is reset following the issue of a reset signal, and an artificial commencement of injection pulse generator which generates artificial commencement of injection signals for the various lines of the pump according to a predetermined count of pulses from the counter since the latter was reset following the issue of a signal from the detector. To measure the relative phases of the different lines, the detector is positioned in a common gallery downstream of all the injectors, and a count is made between successive commencements of injection.

Fuel injection system monitoring equipment

Volumetric metering equipment comprising an injector mounting block by which injectors of a multi-line fuel injection system can be mounted on the equipment. A measuring device is in communication with the mounting block via a feed line to allow test fluid to pass from the injectors to the measuring device when the equipment is in use. The measuring device is constructed to provide signals which are indicative of the amount of test fluid received by the device. Point-of-injection detectors are arranged adjacent to the injectors for determining which of the signals relate to an individual injection.

Volumetric metering equipment

A flowmeter comprising a piston and cylinder arrangement and measuring means arranged to measure the distance through which the piston moves as fluid flows into the arrangement, in which measurement commences with a flying start with fluid already flowing into the piston and cylinder arrangement and the piston is returned to a starting end of its travel before each succeeding measurement.
