Roof structures including safety stanchions for mounting directly to the roof of a building are disclosed. One disclosed safety stanchion has a cross-shaped base for mounting the stanchion on the surface of a roof or glass skylight supported by crisscrossing rafters and purlins. Another roof structure includes safety stanchions having inelastically deformable and replaceable components, crisscrossing rafters and purlins for supporting a roof surface and a structural member for supporting the rafter(s). This roof structure defines an opening extending through the rafter for receiving the stanchion's rigid elongated base which extends through the opening and is attached at its lower end to the structural member supporting the rafter(s).

Safety stanchions for supporting a safety cable and the like are disclosed. One disclosed embodiment includes a tapered tubular post having a lower end for attachment to a support base at an oblique angle and an upper end for supporting the safety cable. A unique base or base assembly for mounting a stanchion upon a structural member such as an I beam is also disclosed. Various unique safety stanchion apparatus and methods for mounting safety stanchions to concrete floors, beams and girders and other concrete structures are also shown.

Safety stanchions for supporting a safety cable and the like include a tapered tubular post having a lower end for attachment to a support base at an oblique angle and an upper end for supporting the safety cable. A unique base or base assembly for mounting a stanchion upon a structural member such as an I beam is also provided. Various unique safety stanchion apparatus and methods for mounting safety stanchions to concrete floors, beams and girders and other concrete structures are also provided.

A safety stanchion for supporting a safety cable includes a tapered tubular post having a lower end for attachment to a support base at an oblique angle and an upper end for supporting the safety cable. The post preferably has a wall thickness of less than 0.125 inches, is frustoconically shaped and is made out of an energy absorbing, elastic-like steel such as A595 grade steel which in cooperation with the post's wall thickness and tapered, preferably frustoconical, shape is believed to render the post capable of in elastically deforming before it fails. A unique base or base assembly for mounting a stanchion upon a structural member such as an I beam, H beam or other structural beam having flange portions is also provided.

A safety system allows a safety guard, e.g. a net and at least one cable, that can be attached in an offset relationship to the back of a pallet rack so that all of the net-supporting cables are in the same plane and that the spacial distance between the safety net and the back of the pallet rack can be adjusted without disengaging the net-supporting cables from a pallet rack member, such as, an extension boom or offset bar. The system may use an offset bracket assembly comprising: an offset bar of a linear length and having a first end and a second end, the bar having at least one set of apertures positioned along the linear length of the bar, a mounting plate attached to the first end of the offset bar and adapted to securely engage a support post of the pallet rack, the mounting plate attached to the offset bar such that its plane is perpendicular to the central axis of the offset bar, and a mounting sleeve of a linear length and adapted to be slidably received by the offset bar, the mounting sleeve having at least one aperture that can be aligned with at least one aperture of the offset bar and having at least one eyelet securely attached to an external surface and configured to engage a net supporting cable. A similar mounting sleeve or attachment sleeve may be used to adjustably attach a support system to the pallet rack and a vertical extension boom.

A safety stanchion is adapted for mounting to a structural I-beam to tie off workers. The safety stanchion includes a post which extends at an oblique angle to the base. The base is secured to the I-beam by means of a ratchet lock mechanism which hooks around the I-beam and a pair of bolts which lock against the underside of the I-beam. The stanchion provides a fixed mounting point for a fall protection system for workers with integral strength to accept stresses caused by falling objects and/or persons.

A rack guard for a pallet rack employs a retractable safety net. The net is clipped to carriers which traverse along vertical tracks offset from the pallet rack. The tracks are pivotally mounted with respect to the pallet rack to permit pivotal displacement of the tracks to a position adjacent the support posts of the rack.

A safety net identifier employs an identifier filament which is woven, laced, twisted or otherwise incorporated with the cords of the safety net. The identifier filament is impervious to ultraviolet resistant coating so that the safety net does not appear exteriorly distinguishable from other nets which do not employ the identifier. In one embodiment, the filament comprises a folded ribbon which is imprinted with the net manufacturer and other pertinent information concerning the safety net.

An adjustable safety guard assembly for a conveyor. The conveyor guard has frame modules which can be adapted to guard conveyors having a variety of configurations. The frame modules are mounted adjacent a conveyor, and are linked together by cables from which guard nets are suspended.

A safety restraint device, such as worn by a worker for preventing falls, employs a sliding ring which is mounted to the safety lanyard. The releasable snap hook of the safety lanyard may be engaged in the sliding ring to secure the safety lanyard to a fixed object.

A universal safety net system for a pallet rack employs extension members which are variably adjustable for extending the effective height of the pallet rack support posts. Offset members which include a series of openings for implementing a pre-established offset spacing from the pallet rack are also employed. Adjustable cross brace assemblies are employed to reinforce the offset members and the vertical extender members. Cables are suspended between the offset members and/or extension members to provide a cable framework for supporting the safety net.

A safety restraint device, such as worn by a worker for preventing falls, employs a sliding D-shaped ring which is mounted to the safety lanyard. The releasable snap hook of the safety lanyard may be engaged in the sliding D-ring to secure the safety lanyard to a fixed object.
