The present invention is a metallized shrinkable label and a method for producing the same. The label of the invention is composed of a shrinkable film base and a graphic. The graphic is created by combining pigmented inks, a metallic coating and a shrink-resistant coating which is printed in a predetermined pattern with gaps so that upon exposure of the label to heat, the gaps close thereby forming a continuous graphic layer. Advantageously, the shrink-resistant coating minimizes discoloration and pleating of the metallic coating.

Metallized shrinkable label

A preprinted holographic label or printed material for use in labeling squeezable tubes or containers as well as compact discs, computer software, cosmetics, and the like is provided. The holographic structure provides for selectively reverse-printing a reflective coating directly onto a micro-embossed holographic film or coating which is affixed to a clear thin-film and contains the micro-embossed structure. Non-reflective coatings and support structures are also provided for protecting both the graphics and embossed holographic image from contamination.

Holographic structure and method for producing the same

The presented invention is a preprinted holographic label or printed material for use in labeling squeezable tubes or containers as well as compact discs, computer software, cosmetics, and the like is provided. The holographic structure provides for selectively reverse-printing a reflective coating directly onto a micro-embossed holographic film or coating which is affixed to a clear thin-film and contains the micro-embossed structure. Non-reflective coatings and support structures are also provided for protecting both the graphics and embossed holographic image from contamination.

A method and apparatus for in-mold labelling in which labels are individually cut from a continuous web as demanded by the cycling of a mold. The web of labels is advanced through a die cutter which sequentially cuts individual labels from the web. A transfer device picks a freshly cut label from the die cutter and places the label within the cavity of a mold located in proximity to the die cutter. By individually cutting labels from a web at the time of use rather than loading a stack of precut labels in a magazine, the invention allows for the use of thinner, less expensive, and compatible plastic label material.

Apparatus for in-mold labelling

A laser markable sheet having a thermally sensitive base sheet overlaid by a transparent cover sheet. The cover sheet is adhered to the base sheet by a transparent adhesive. Markings may be produced on the base sheet by directing a laser beam through the cover sheet and the transparent adhesive so that the beam impinges on the front surface of the cover sheet. The rear surface of the cover sheet may be coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive, and the pressure sensitive adhesive may be temporarily covered by a release liner.

Laser markable laminated sheet

A metallized label and a manufacturing method are disclosed in which a translucent base sheet is printed with markings on its rear surface, and a metal layer is applied over the printed markings. The printed markings form apertures or translucent areas through which the metal layer is visible from the front of the label. Adhesive and a release liner are applied to the rear of the metal layer. The metal layer may be applied only in areas in correspondence with the apertures.

Metallized label

A printable sheet having one or more separable identification or the like is disclosed. A face sheet is overlyingly adhered to a backing sheet by a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive. The rear surface of the face sheet is pattern coated with a release agent only in regions disposed in registration with the cards to be formed as portions of the face sheet. A cut line is formed through the face sheet along the perimeters of the cards so that the cards may be readily peeled away leaving the remainder of the face sheet adhered to the backing sheet. The printable sheet may be imprinted on automated printing devices and is particularly suited for printing with a laser printer. Also disclosed is a method for making the printable sheet.

Printable sheet having separable card

A combination baggage tag and claim ticket is disclosed formed as a strip of flexible material having two tongues for encircling the handle of a piece of baggage and a detachable ticket disposed between the tongues. The back surface of the strip is pattern coated with adhesive such that two adhesive-free zones are left on the tongues with adhesive coated bands at the free ends of the tongues.
