A control computer includes a computer memory and a computer processor programmed to execute instructions stored in the memory to perform a lidar calibration test. The instructions include collecting texture data output by a lidar sensor, the texture data representing a detected texture of an interior surface of a first jig disposed about the lidar sensor, comparing the texture data output by the lidar sensor to a known texture of the interior surface of the first jig, determining that the lidar sensor needs to be calibrated as a result of comparing the texture data to the known texture, and calibrating the lidar sensor by uploading updated values for use with the lidar sensor.

Lidar calibration

A computer includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to, upon determining that a local set of identifiers is inconsistent with a remotely served set of identifiers, prevent a vehicle from entering an autonomous mode or instruct the vehicle to perform a minimal risk condition.

A computer includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to, upon determining that a vehicle entered a geofenced area, start a timer; upon determining that a handoff of the vehicle from an operator to a remote server has not occurred since starting the timer and that the timer has exceeded a time threshold, determine whether the operator is absent based on data from sensors; and then, upon determining that the operator is absent, instruct the vehicle to follow a command received from the remote server.

A first vehicle velocity target is determined based on a velocity of a proximate second vehicle and at least one of a curvature of a road, a gradient of the road, a bank angle of the road, visibility, and a coefficient of friction on a surface of the road.
