A rotary assembly is provided that may be operably connected to an engine. The rotary assembly may include a rotary device comprising a turbine wheel, a shaft connected to the turbine wheel, and a case that houses the shaft and the turbine wheel. The turbine wheel may receive exhaust gas from the engine which causes rotation of the turbine wheel and the shaft. The case may include an interior surface that defines a hollow volume in which the turbine wheel and the shaft are located. The case has a radial thickness extending from the interior surface to an exterior surface of the case. The case may include a lattice structure integrated within the radial thickness of the case. The lattice structure may include a repeating three-dimensional array of frame segments connected to one another at junctions and defining interstitial spaces between the frame segments.

Rotary assembly

Various systems are provided for a single turbocharger case housing each of turbine of a turbocharger and a bearing of the turbocharger. In one example, an apparatus for an engine includes an integrated, monolithic turbocharger case that houses each of a turbine and a bearing of a turbocharger and a nozzle ring integrated into the turbocharger case between the turbine and the bearing. In further examples of the system, portions of the turbocharger case are formed of a lattice structure.

System for a combined turbine and bearing case for a turbocharger

Various methods and systems are provided for a fluidic variable turbine. In one example, a system for an engine comprises a turbocharger turbine including a nozzle ring, the nozzle ring including a plurality of stationary vanes, each vane of the plurality of stationary vanes including a plurality of injection ports arranged at an outer surface of the vane, and a gas supply system to supply variable gas flow to and out of the plurality of injection ports.

Method and systems for a fluidic variable turbocharger for an engine

A turbocharger device includes a case having a turbine portion and a bearing portion connected to and extending from the turbine portion. The turbine portion defines a cavity that houses a turbine wheel and receives exhaust gas that rotates the turbine wheel. The bearing portion houses a shaft connected to the turbine wheel. The bearing portion has a radial thickness between an exterior surface and an interior surface. The interior surface defines a central channel. The bearing portion holds a bearing system that supports the shaft within the central channel. The bearing portion includes a lattice structure within the radial thickness. The lattice structure is a repeating three-dimensional array of frame segments connected to one another at junctions. The lattice structure engages a turbine back wall that is located between the turbine portion and the bearing portion. The lattice structure defines interstitial spaces between the frame segments.

Turbocharger device

Various systems and methods are provided for a shroud of a turbomachine. In one example, a turbomachine includes a case and a rotor rotatably coupled to the case and configured to transfer energy between the rotor and a working fluid. The case includes a shroud housing the rotor, the shroud including an inner shell, an outer shell, and a lattice structure positioned between the inner shell and the outer shell.

Case-integrated turbomachine wheel containment

Various methods and systems are provided for a variable geometry turbine. In one example, a system for an engine comprises a turbocharger turbine including a nozzle ring, the nozzle ring including a plurality of stationary vanes, each vane of the plurality of stationary vanes including a plurality of injection ports arranged at an outer surface of the vane and a gas supply system to supply variable gas flow to and out of the plurality of injection ports.

Method and systems for a variable geometry turbocharger for an engine

A thrust bearing assembly includes a body comprising a first outer surface and a second outer surface, and a pocket extending between an open end at the first outer surface and a closed end disposed within the body between the first outer surface and the second outer surface. The assembly includes a pad comprising a base end and a free end. The base end is coupled to the closed end of the pocket and the free end is disposed proximate the first outer surface of the body. The body and the pad are configured to be formed as a unitary component. The assembly also includes a cooling channel extending within the body and the pad. The cooling channel is configured to fluidly couple the body with the pad. The cooling channel directs cooling fluid to one or more positions within the body and one or more positions within the pad.
