In an embodiment, an electronic display includes an active area including a plurality of pixels arranged in columns and a plurality of source drivers driving image data to columns of pixels. The electronic display also includes a first plurality of switches selectively coupling respective source drivers of the plurality of source drivers to one or more columns. Selective coupling enables the respective source drivers to, at different times, drive the image data to: a single column; and multiple columns. In another embodiment, an electronic display includes a display panel configured to operate using a reference voltage received via a resistive path having a routing resistance, a reference voltage source outputting the reference voltage, and a feedback circuit sensing an electrical parameter of the resistive path and producing a compensation voltage that, when added to the reference voltage, causes the reference voltage to remain substantially constant at the display panel.

Foveated driving for power saving

An electronic device may have a display. The display may include an array of pixels formed on a silicon substrate. Display driver circuitry may be formed in a display driver integrated circuit that outputs display data and other control signals for operating the display. An interposer structure may be included in the electronic device. The interposer structure may be attached to the silicon display substrate and may only partially overlap the silicon display substrate. The display driver integrated circuit may be attached to the interposer structure and provide signals to the display pixels through the interposer structure. In another possible arrangement, the display driver integrated circuit may bridge a gap between the silicon display substrate and the flexible printed circuit. The display driver integrated circuit only partially overlaps the silicon display substrate in this arrangement.

Circuits, systems, methods, and devices are provided for isolating the first ground domain from the second ground domain while transmitting and receiving data between the two ground domains. The proposed high-voltage ground-isolating level shifter may be formed by AC coupling capacitors and a memory cell. The circuit under the high voltage ground domain may be located in an engineered high-voltage isolation well with a relatively large breakdown voltage.

Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for testing and repairing various aspects of an electronic display. The electronic display includes a reference array and an active array. The electronic display also includes test circuitry used to test individual or any combination of pixels of the electronic display. Switches may be disposed between the pixels and the test circuitry to be to repair the various components of the electronic display.

A system may include a display driven using display driving circuitry to present an image via pixels. The display driving circuitry may include a sensor core compatible with one or more strain sensing circuits. The same sensor core may be used by a control system of the display to sense a stress applied to a strained region of a display using a current divider sensing circuit and/or a Wheatstone bridge sensing circuit.

A method of adjusting a test gray voltages applied to a component of an electronic display during a test frame between image frames, wherein the adjustment is based at least in part on the control signal to the component during a prior image frame. The method may reduce hysteresis effects on the extraction of sensed currents of the component during the test frame, which may increase the accuracy and/or consistency of determined parameters evaluated from the sensed currents. The determined parameters may include temperature and/or aging of the component. The determined parameters may be used to adjust control signals for the component and other components in a region near the component during the next image frame.

Systems and methods of reducing hysteresis for display component control and improving parameter extraction

A system may include an electronic display panel having multiple pixels for depicting image data and processing circuitry that may receive a first error value representative of a first difference between a first electrical signal measured at a first pixel of the multiple pixels and an expected electrical signal for the first pixel. The first electrical signal may be based on a test signal transmitted to the first pixel and the expected electrical signal may correspond to an expected response of the first pixel based on the test signal. The processing circuitry may filter the first error value to generate a first compensated error value and may filter the first error value based on the first compensated error value to generate a second compensated error value, where the second compensated error value may filter one or more effects of spatial crosstalk between one or more pixels near the first pixel.

An electronic device includes an electronic display having an active area comprising a pixel. The electronic device also includes processing circuitry configured to receive image data and predict a change in threshold voltage associated with a transistor of the pixel based at least in part on the image data. Furthermore, the processing circuitry is configured to adjust the image data to generate adjusted image data based at least in part on the predicted change in threshold voltage.

A method of adjusting a control signal to a component of an electronic display based on a temperature of the component, includes measuring current outputs of the component in response to applied gate voltages. The method also includes applying a mapping function to the current outputs to generate adapted current outputs, which are utilized to determine an intermediate value related to the temperature of the component. The intermediate value corresponds to a relationship between the applied gate voltages and the adapted current outputs. The intermediate value also enables the intermediate value to be substantially independent of hysteresis of the current outputs. The control signals to the component may be adjusted based at least in part on the determined intermediate value for the component.

Systems and methods of utilizing output of display component for display temperature compensation

Various embodiments provide for an integrated temperature sensor and microphone package where the temperature sensor is located in, over, or near an acoustic port associated with the microphone. This placement of the temperature sensor near the acoustic port enables the temperature sensor to more accurately determine the ambient air temperature and reduces heat island interference cause by heat associated with the integrated circuit. In an embodiment, the temperature sensor can be a thermocouple formed over a substrate, with the temperature sensing portion of the thermocouple formed over the acoustic port. In another embodiment, the temperature sensor can be formed on an application specific integrated circuit that extends into or over the acoustic port. In another embodiment, a thermally conductive channel in a substrate can be placed near the acoustic port to enable the temperature sensor to determine the ambient temperature via the channel.

An electronic device includes a display having a number of pixels, source driving circuitry that drives data to the pixels, and data lines that communicatively couple the source driving circuitry with the pixels. The electronic device also includes quality monitoring and calibration circuitry that identifies degradation in the source driving circuitry, one or more of the data lines, or both. The electronic device may be controlled based at least in part upon identification of the degradation.

Display quality monitoring and calibration

A method and circuit for testing an acoustic sensor are disclosed. In a first aspect, the method comprises using electro-mechanical features of the acoustic sensor to measure characteristic of the acoustic sensor. In a second aspect, the method comprises utilizing an actuation signal to evaluate mechanical characteristics of the acoustic sensor. In a third aspect, the method comprises using a feedthrough cancellation system to measure a capacitance of the acoustic sensor. In the fourth aspect, the circuit comprises a mechanism for driving an electrical signal into a signal path of the acoustic sensor to cancel an electrical feedthrough signal provided to the signal path, wherein any of the electrical signal and the electrical feedthrough signal are within or above an audio range.

Electronic devices and methods for compensating for noise in a display that includes sensing a current in a sensing channel of the display. Compensating for the noise also includes sensing an observation current from noise in an observation channel of the display and scaling the observation current to generate a scaled observation current. The scaled observation current is subtracted from the sense current to generate a compensated output. The compensated output is used to drive compensation operations of the display based at least in part on the compensated output to reduce effects of the noise.

Common-mode noise compensation

Acoustic ambient temperature and humidity sensing based on determination of sound velocity is described, in addition to sensors, algorithms, devices, systems, and methods therefor. An exemplary embodiment employs sound velocity in the determination of ambient temperature and humidity. Provided implementations include determinations of sound velocity based on time of flight of a coded acoustic signal and/or based on resonance frequency of a Helmholtz resonator.
