The invention relates to a vehicle restraint system provided for delimiting roadways and including guide barriers () which are placed next to one another in a detachable manner. Each guide barrier () includes a housing-type base body () that can be placed upright on the ground and a guide rail () arranged above the base body (). The guide rail () and the base body () can be coupled together by means of tension rods (), wherein each tension rod () is connected to the guide rail () with an upper end () and can be tightened at a bottom end () in an abutment () arranged in the base body ().
