Methods and systems are provided for displaying visualizations of a vehicle's capability with respect to an input query corresponding to a prospective action to modify operation of the vehicle. One method involves identifying one or more input query parameters, obtaining current status information for the vehicle, identifying one or more performance constraints for the vehicle, and determining a capability envelope for the vehicle for satisfying the one or more input query parameters for the prospective action based at least in part on the current status information and the one or more performance constraints. The capability envelope includes a plurality of potential trajectories for the vehicle different from a reference trajectory for the vehicle. The method provides graphical indicia of the one or more input query parameters and the capability envelope with respect to the reference trajectory on a navigational map display.

Disclosed are methods, systems, and non-transitory computer-readable medium for automatic time keeping of an electronic checklist. One method may include: receiving a user and/or system input associated with a graphical user interface (GUI) of an electronic checklist; determining whether the user and/or system input triggers a timer event; in response to determining that the user and/or system input triggers the timer event, determining whether the timer event is a first type of timer event or a second type of timer event; in response to determining that the timer event is the first type of timer event, performing a first timer process; and in response to determining that the timer event is the second type of timer event, performing a second timer process.

Methods and systems for automatic time keeping of electronic checklists

Disclosed are methods, systems, and non-transitory computer-readable medium for electronic checklist data references. For instance, the method may include: displaying, in a GUI, a checklist GUI corresponding to a checklist of an electronic checklist system; determining whether the checklist includes one or more dynamic data references and/or one or more static data references; in response to determining the checklist includes the one or more dynamic data references, performing a dynamic data reference process to display specific data in the checklist GUI for the one more dynamic data references; and in response to determining the checklist includes the one or more static data references, displaying one or more static data fields in the checklist GUI for the one or more static data references to initiate performing a static data reference process for the one or more static data fields.

Methods and systems for electronic checklist data references

Disclosed are methods, systems, and non-transitory computer-readable medium for automatic cross-checking of an electronic checklist. One method may include: receiving a first user and/or system input associated with a graphical user interface (GUI) of the electronic checklist; determining whether the first user and/or system input triggers an error; in response to determining that the first user and/or system input triggers the error, displaying an error message on the GUI; receiving a second user and/or system input; determining whether the second user and/or system input resolves the error; and in response to determining the second user and/or system input resolves the error, removing the error message from the GUI.

Methods and systems for automatic cross-checking of electronic checklists

A flight deck system for providing task management assistance in managing the flight path to the flight crew is provided. The system is configured to: mine flight plan data for a current flight plan, navigational data, and vertical situation display (VSD) data; obtain notification data items originating from onboard avionics systems and systems external to the aircraft that indicate upcoming conditions that will affect the current flight plan; automatically analyze the mined flight plan data and the notification data items to identify a sensed deviation condition; automatically identify an aircraft-related deviation condition from an aircraft failure event; receive flight crew notification of a non-sensed deviation condition; automatically generate a plurality of flight plan deviation options to accommodate a sensed deviation condition, an aircraft-related deviation condition, or a non-sensed deviation condition; and present graphical elements representative of the flight plan deviation options to the flight crew on an integrated interactive graphical user interface.

Systems and methods for providing deviation assistance on an integrated flight management display

Methods and systems for automating processes of receiving, prioritizing, and grouping weather data into a weather event, extent of weather event, and an associated duration for presentation on a displayed mission timeline in an aircraft having a flight plan (FP). The method includes: receiving, by a controller circuit, weather data, aircraft state data, and aircraft system status data; identifying a weather phenomenon that impacts the FP and creating an information structure for the weather phenomenon, the information structure including at least a type, a subtype, a severity, a start of impact and an end of impact. The method also includes presenting a weather event indicator overlaid on the mission timeline to indicate the weather phenomenon. The rendering of the weather event indicator on the mission timeline additionally depicts on the mission timeline: a start, an end, and duration of the weather event.

Systems and methods for presenting environment information on a mission timeline

A method for providing task management assistance in managing the flight path to the flight crew is provided. The method comprises: mining flight plan data and navigational data from an aircraft system; obtaining notification data items originating from systems external to the aircraft; determining an estimated flight time to reach each of the plurality of waypoints, course data items, and the upcoming conditions; causing a timeline graphical user interface (GUI) to be displayed on an aircraft display, wherein the timeline GUI is configured to display a timeline, waypoint graphical elements representative of the waypoints, course data item graphical elements representative of the other course data items, and notification data item graphical elements representative of the upcoming conditions; automatically analyzing the mined flight plan data and the notification data items to determine if deviation from the flight plan is suggested; and providing a notification of the suggested deviation from when deviation is suggested.

Systems and methods for providing an integrated flight management display with interactive time-based functionality

A method and apparatus for assessing performance in operating an aircraft. Information for assessing a performance of a group of operations performed by a number of crew members of the aircraft is displayed on a display system during operation of the aircraft by the number of crew members for which the group of operations is assessed. User input assessing the performance of the group of operations by the number of crew members is received through an input system. The user input is stored. A report on the performance of the group of operations performed by the number of crew members using the user input is generated.

A method for providing operational awareness data onboard an aircraft, by a computing device comprising at least a processor and a system memory element, is provided. The method continuously identifies deviations from operational goals of the aircraft, by the processor, based on a current state of the aircraft, a predicted state of the aircraft, and flight crew perception of the current state and the predicted state; and autonomously initiates a dialogue with flight crew onboard the aircraft by providing voice-data prompts for user action onboard the aircraft, by the processor onboard the aircraft, based on the deviations.

Cockpit display systems and methods are provided for generating energy management symbology on cockpit displays, which aid pilot decision-making when evaluating and executing direct approaches. In an embodiment, the cockpit display system includes a cockpit display device on which a first cockpit display, such as a vertical situation display or a horizontal navigation display, is generated. A controller is operably coupled to the cockpit display device and configured to: (i) identify a direct approach (DA) path to a configuration point located over a destination airfield; (ii) calculate a first DA energy estimate for the aircraft to fly the DA path under engine idle conditions and arrive at the configuration point with an airspeed less than a configuration airspeed; and (iii) generate symbology on the first cockpit display indicative of the first DA energy estimate.

Cockpit display systems and methods for generating cockpit displays including direct approach energy management symbology

A flight deck display that represents the overall health of the airplane by combining energy state, system state and configuration state into one integrated representation that is triggered by the on-board engine indication and crew alerting system. The computer system for controlling the display unit is configured to display an airplane status indicator in the form of a symbolic representation of the airplane that persists across displays. The status indicator shows the energy state of the airplane and how energy is being added or subtracted from it in terms of altitude, airspeed, thrust, wind, etc. As the airplane gains energy, there is a projection of excess energy shown in front of the airplane. As the airplane loses energy, an alerting indicator will appear around the airplane symbol if the performance of the airplane becomes is too low.

According to an embodiment, a method provides flight operational consequence information by receiving a status indication associated with an aircraft component at a processing device in the aircraft during a flight. The processing device ascertains one or more operational consequences that includes displaying text strings associated with the status indication, wherein each of the one or more operational consequences are associated with one or more flight segments of the flight. At least a subset of the one or more operational consequences are provided on a display associated with the processing devices and an indication is provided on the display of the one or more flight segments associated with the one or more operational consequences.

Flight operational consequences system

A method is disclosed for generating a quick reference handbook for use on a mobile platform. The method may involve providing a machine-readable medium for use with a processor having a memory. The machine-readable medium may provide instructions for causing the processor to generate a quick reference handbook (QRH). The QRH may be created through the use of checklists organized in accordance with a plurality of grouping schemes that include at least a plurality of: Immediate Action; Systems; and Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) messages. Differentiating criteria may also be used for decisions steps, action steps, and navigation steps within the checklists to thereby enable a user to discriminate between the steps.
