A transparent consumer product, such as an aqueous heavy duty liquid having colorant dye, in a clear bottle, wherein the material of which said bottle is made comprises fluorescent dye to protect the colorant dye. The f-dye may, alternatively or in addition to, be present in a clear label on such bottle.

A pretreater or laundry additive composition which removes stains and as a laundry additive, whiten fabrics are described herein. The compositions contain 0.1 to 20 wt. % of a nonionic surfactant, 0.1% to 10 wt. % of a hydrophobically modified polymer and less than about 5 wt. % of an anionic soap. Methods of using the composition are also described.

Method of pretreating stained fabrics with pretreater or laundry

The present invention relates to pretreater or compositions in stick form which remove stains. The compositions contain 30 to 80 wt. % of a nonionic surfactant, 1 to about 20 wt. % of an anionic soap, and 0.1% to 10 wt. % of a hydrophobically modified polar polymer. A method of using the composition is also described.

Isotropic liquid detergent composition comprises specific soil antiredeposition polymers containing a hydrophilic backbone and monomer with hydrophobic side chains. When the molar ratio of the number hydrophilic groups to number of hydrophobic groups on said polymers is below certain critical levels, it has been unexpectedly found that the stability (i.e., clarity) of the composition remarkably increases. The solubility of the polymer is further dependent on the type and amount (minimum required) of hydrotrope; surfactant type and levels; and minimum electrolyte levels.

Novel and improved antibacterial mixtures comprise a 2-alkylimidazoline and at least one bacteriostat from 3,4',5-tribromosalicylanilide, 4',5-dibromosalicylanilide and 2,4,4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxydiphenyl ether. These mixtures effectively destroy bacteria in a cleaning or laundering operation at room temperature and retard subsequent bacterial growth.

A laundry additive pouch is disclosed which includes a pair of plastic sheets joined to one another along mutually confronting and opposed marginal edges, one of the sheets including a smaller region remote from the marginal edges which mutually confronts and opposes an identical such smaller region of the other of the sheets and is joined thereto, each of the sheets having an opening confronting and opposing one another and surrounded by the joined portions of the smaller regions, and a laundry additive substance confined in a substantially annular-like space in the pouch between the joined marginal edges of the sheets and the joined portions of the smaller regions of the sheets.

A device for the purification of water and methods for the use thereof are disclosed. The device comprises a closed container substantially porous to water, a purification agent contained therein and an ingredient dispersed in the purification agent for the purpose of inhibiting fine particles of the agent from escaping the container when the device is immersed in water. The disclosed inhibitory ingredients include certain modified starches, wood flour and aluminium lanolate soap. The device is especially useful in removing incipient impurities from drinking water that can elude customary water treatment and render drinking water organoleptically unsatisfactory.
