Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network entity via a first cell, signaling that indicates a configuration for communicating a reference signal associated with measuring a second cell. The UE may transmit, to the network entity and based on the configuration, a request for a time gap to be included between communications via the first cell and communication of the reference signal. The UE may receive, via the second cell and in response to the request for the time gap, the reference signal in accordance with the time gap. In some examples, the request for the time gap may be communicated via positioning signaling associated with requesting time gaps between the communication of positioning reference signals (PRSs).

According to embodiments, an example method for positioning an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) using a transmitting device in a wireless communications network may comprise configuring the IRS to reflect a wireless reference signal back to the transmitting device and subsequent to configuring the IRS, transmitting the wireless reference signal from the transmitting device to the IRS. The method may also comprise receiving a wireless reflected signal at the transmitting device, wherein the wireless reflected signal comprises a reflection of the wireless reference signal, reflected by the IRS and determining measurements configured for positioning the IRS based at least in part on the wireless reflected signal, wherein a location of the IRS is determined based on the measurements.

According to embodiments, an example method of positioning a user equipment (UE) by a location server in a wireless communications network, the method may comprises receiving a request to perform positioning of the UE and receiving a notification from a first base station indicating that a transmission path between the first base station and the UE is via an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS). The method may further comprise responsive, at least in part, to receiving the notification, preventing the positioning of the UE from being based on a reference signal transmitted through the transmission path between the first base station and the UE.

During a positioning session between a user equipment (UE) and a location server, the location server may send the base station a request to suspend the Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection with the UE. For example, the location server may send a request to the base station recommending suspension of the connection or may provide an indication of the amount of time during which position related messages between the UE and the location server are not expected. The base station may determine whether to suspend the connection with the UE, thereby placing the UE in an inactive state based on the information provided. The base station may further determine whether to suspend the connection based on data activity of the UE. While in an inactive state, the UE and base station store UE connection context, which may be used to quickly resume the connection.

System and methods for power efficient positioning of a mobile device

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a user equipment (UE) to transmit assistance information to request changes to discontinuous reception (DRX) parameters to improve performance of the UE and its connection to a wireless network. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes detecting one or more conditions; and transmitting, in response to the detection, a request to change a connected mode discontinuous reception (CDRX) configuration to a first network.

The UL relay(s) receives UL data communications from UEs, and relay the UL data communications to a serving network component (e.g., gNB) via a backhaul connection (wired or wireless). In an aspect, uplink relay(s) are selected by a network component for a position estimation session of a target UE. The uplink relay(s) measure UL SRS for positioning from the target UE, and report UL SRS measurement information to the network component and/or the serving network component.

Systems and techniques are described for processing one or more images. For example, an imaging system may receive an image of an environment and detect a face of a person in the image. The imaging system may identify profile data associated with the person and retrieve, based on the profile data, a synthesized face. The imaging system may generate a modified image of the environment at least in part by modifying the image to use the synthesized face for the person in place of the face of the person. The imaging system may further output the modified image of the environment. In some examples, the imaging system uses trained machine learning model(s) to generate the modified image.

In one example, a method includes receiving a first image from an image sensor captured with a first field of view (FOV) and comprising a first plurality of pixels, receiving a second image from the image sensor captured with a second FOV and comprising a second plurality of pixels, determining an ROI in the second image, the ROI comprising a subset of the second plurality of pixels in the second image, determining an ROI weight for the ROI in the second image, determining statistics based on the first plurality of pixels in the first image, the subset of the second plurality of pixels in the second image, and the ROI weight for the ROI in the second image, and adjusting a gain or exposure setting for the image sensor based on the statistics.

Techniques are provided for transmitting Positioning Reference Signals (PRSs) in cells supporting two different Radio Access Technologies (RATs), where the two RATs (e.g. 4G LTE and 5G NR) employ dynamic spectrum sharing. To avoid interference between the PRSs and between the two RATs, the PRSs may be time aligned to the same set of PRS positioning occasions, and may be assigned orthogonal characteristics such as different muting patterns, orthogonal code sequences, different frequency shifts or different frequency hopping. UEs supporting both RATs may be enabled to measure PRSs for both RATs. UEs supporting only one RAT (e.g. 4G LTE) may be enabled to measure PRSs for just this RAT. A location server such as an LMF, E-SMLC or SLP may provide assistance data to UEs, and request measurements from UEs, for PRSs in one or both RATs.

Efficient positioning enhancement for dynamic spectrum sharing

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support enhanced management of recovery timers in a wireless communication system. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes an apparatus determining whether a recovery timer is currently running, the apparatus being configured for multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) communications including a first subscription and a second subscription. The apparatus is further configured to tune away from the first subscription to the second subscription when the recovery timer is determined not to be currently running, and determine to forego tuning away from the first subscription to the second subscription when the recovery timer is determined to be currently running. An under-display camera is positioned underneath a display of a mobile device. The under-display camera captures an image using light passing through a portion of the display. The mobile device displays a display image on the display, the display image based on the image. The mobile device displays an indicator overlaid over the display image on an indicator area of the display that overlaps with the portion of the display. The indicator may identify the position of the camera. The mobile device can compensate for occlusion of the camera by continuing to display a previous display image if a more recently captured image includes an occlusion. The mobile device can give users alternate ways to select areas of the display image to avoid camera occlusion, for instance using hardware buttons and/or touchscreen interface elements.

Disclosed are techniques for environment sensing. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) performs a monostatic sensing operation to detect one or more characteristics of one or more objects in an environment of the UE, transmits, to a network entity, based on detection of the one or more characteristics of the one or more objects, a request for one or more network nodes to transmit one or more wireless sensing signals to assist the UE to perform a bistatic sensing operation, and performs the bistatic sensing operation based on reception of the one or more wireless sensing signals to detect additional characteristics of the one or more objects.

Dynamic sensing configuration

Techniques are provided for coordinating radio frequency (RF) sensing by a plurality of wireless devices. Wireless devices obtain RF sensing coordination information that includes orthogonality information for transmission and reception of RF sensing signals to reduce or eliminate interference between RF sensing by different devices. The orthogonality information may be provided by a server, another wireless device, or a group of wireless devices. The orthogonality information is used by a wireless device to transmit and receive RF sensing signals that are orthogonal to RF sensing signals transmitted and received by other nearby wireless devices. The orthogonality information may be for orthogonality in a spatial domain, time domain, frequency domain, code domain, or some combination of these. The wireless devices perform RF sensing operations based at least in part on the RF sensing coordination information and report the RF sensing results.
